Streachyman: Sounds like you are onto the "goods". Do you have a working prototype that I could see on Utube.
I could supply a power source and yes, even a modulator if needed.
You mention a scope, and that is in the works for this new year.

Thanks

This may seem self serving, but pirate radio stations all all at risk for a FCC or other bust. So guys thank you for putting your tails up at the pathetic corporate for the money and profit broadcasters, who take for themselves and pollute same, a public resource. 8)

Nice, but was thinking outside of programming, the low power and clandestine nature of many pirate stations, plus their unpredictable schedule, make them a prize QSL and takes skill to hear them. Not your radio India, with 500kw and 14 db curtain antennas and plus a boring self serving content (GOV operated).

Good old house boat Dave. I can't say I like him or have any interest, but he has run a course outside of what ARRL thinks HR should be. You might say, have an opinion other than about a radio, please keep it to yourself. FCC may be starting to get a clue, as did the US forest service, not all fires can or even should be put out.
Dave does have a guy who ran a fowl of ARRL and FCC years ago, K1MAN. The FCC harangue when on for twenty years with MAN in court going prose. Nothing really happened except he could not renew his license because he owed money to FCC.
He passed away about a year ago, and his transmitters were finally silenced forever. :-X

::) There seem to be designs out there. YES! There are hammer radio guys who elite theirs on 75 meters. In some ways such transmitters are easier to design than the ole mod transformer high level jobs.
But talk about anybody who has seen this as a potential for a little business (under ground). If they are there??
Years ago I almost bought a transistor 300 watt linear amp. The dude did have the units even built. Big issue here. If its a KIT and you are not a radio jolly rodger.. just want ham it.. well.. that legal. Built forget it dude. FCC demands type acceptance for virtually everything from CB to FM broadcast. I have a 300 watt, FM amp drives with 1 watt, BUt..... its not type accepted so using it in licensed broadcast service, just isn't possible. Tried to sell it quite a few times and of course the licensed stations can't use it so its value?? Zilch?
Now, a basic 250 watts class E for shortwave should be a piece of cake! Dude its NOT rocket science!!
But, nobody has surfaced, maybe for good reason, who supplies these things. Could Old Streachy do it someday? I have not a clue. Its up to I suppose basic economics.. can I do this legally? Well, yes you can.. its like guns.. you sell them, but its in how they are used. :P

In the USA its a vast waste of spectrum. religious freaks in sheets and crazy crap. Music generally is horrible. NPR sucks because its biased by the left elite. The news stories are not of any real interest.
Indeed the web seems the only place to get what u want. I can tune almost any station half a world away in India or Japan without interference or fade outs. Its a new World that some have lots of trouble admitting is the future.
Both AM and FM radio are largely dinosaurs  :-\

 8) Oh, that Lou Lou.. I have spoken to him so many times and always got same report. he says same things over and over ad nausea . But, he hears the little ones and they are of course thrilled over and over.
He says he is using a four element yagi over and over.
On one occasion I heard him on 40, weaker than usual working Japan and far East. Its hard to fathom, but could I hear him long way around. Didn't detect any echo and some things are strange as if he transmits from Spain, but listens 8) on a gateway !

7200 is the ignorant CB we got lucky baby band. Because in 2008, FCC in US made HF general license so easy, code free, anybody including morons can get a ticket. Loads of stuff there that isn't even fit for CB. But, where I live, the CB band has been swept clean because they now are all on ham bands. :'(
Many of the OO are not really educated in what part 97 actually says. There has never been on HF an FCC guarantee of a interference free clear channel. Indeed, the onus remains on the operators not FCC to resolve interference issues.

That said on 7200 the malicious and intentional interference is clear by carriers, music and not IDing.
That the high hanging fruits of rotten radio FCC finds too time consuming to deal with including persons using other ham ops call signs and recordings to feign intefrence.
Sad, the death of ham radio.. its the final nails. :-\

:o Well, why no insurance? I think I read, they said, they could not get it because they were very far from any fire station.
I suppose closer to truth, they can't get any reasonably priced insurance because of that.
They now say, 20 grand can bring in a transmitter to include shipping from where ever.

I am wondering having been a BC engineer when in my twenties, if routine preventive maintenance could have prevented the big burn? :-X

::)  Yes, I hear him. At 2148, some deep fades. Using FT900 not SDR on this.  R 3 S 2 . This time of day signals come up so I hope transmission continues for a while.

I think Harris was Gates or bought out Gates. As a much younger dude than I am today, I worked with the 1kw am model. It was four bottles. Two RF, two Modulator. As I recall Gates believed in the old, but true KISS principle. The Transmitters were basic, but always had high reliability. And yes BCQ it is indeed a marvel it lasted more than half a century. Believe its vintage was 1959!  8)

I think it was the two ears bottle, the 833A triode. Those were the days and then that beautiful mercury vapor GLOW of the rectifiers.
