Tough copy here. Hard to ID music. Live track. Lots of static crashes.
Improving a bit as I type.
ID @ 1541 and Journey.

Just starting to appear here but weak.

Fun Boy Three.
Sounds like the laughing DJ that used to operate on 48 years ago. UK.
Pres recorded program as I think he's announcing 62 or 63xx frequency.

edit by Ray : from UNID to Radio Pandora (UK)

Baccara, Yes sir, I can boogie

Equipment / Re: Best MWDX antenna?

I have a low inverted L MW transmit aerial here which I've being useing for reception recently. Just inductively coupled to a small transistor radio. Nothing fancy. Works great!

Good to get a "rapport".  ;)

I don’t know that I buy into this “sub-harmonic” idea.  Mixing products seem more likely.

If you are actually hearing WBBR 1130, mixing products from a station on 680 kHz (or 1580 kHz) could produce a signal on 450 kHz…but I would expect to hear audio from both stations.  You didn’t report that.

Also, does WRCA 1330 Boston carry Bloomberg?  They are closer to you than NYC.

If you were tuned to 450 kHz, and your radio had a 455 kHz IF, the local oscillator would be at 905 kHz.  If WRCA 1330 also mixed with the 905 kHz local oscillator, then the product would be at 405 kHz which is near to the frequency you were hearing this unknown signal.
I don't agrree with the lower harmonic theory either.
Almost every time I have heard of someone hearing a MW station down so low, it's to do with double the IF. Some radios are 450, so Boston 1330 would be 430 Khz. Still not 450 though.

Software / Re: SSTV software (Chrome)
« on: June 22, 2021, 1419 UTC »
Rob, thanks for all the info. I found the box for the chromebook yesterday. I think I'm going to return it and get a laptop with a Windows OS. Now i just have to figure out what features the laptop will need for SSTV.

Off topic but vendors don't usually like taking back computers that have been out of the box.

Once your new laptop has an audio input socket, it should be OK. I imagine all laptops these days will meet the min requirments for SSTV.

You only need one audio input.

The RF Workbench / Re: BCB Bandstop filter Chinese vs homebrew

Have you considered an LC notch filter instead to knock down 1090? You could get some decent attenuation there, while preserving the rest of the MW band.
Thst sounds like a better solution.

After about a year of working on GU-50 shortwave tube transmitter project, I finally finished! Download it, build it, enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it.

Very nice. Did you design this circuit?

I listened until CD at approx 00.05. Poor signal here but audible on the Grundig with just the telescopic aerial. Hard to make out what the presenter was saying, just the jist of it. Do I recognise his voice? Maybe.

on 7700.0++
1255 rock, good-strong signal, 1258 next
1330 VERY STRONG !!!  but overmod, not first grade audio

1353 bad het on 7702, and TX drifting up a bit

Hope audio is a bit better now. I changed some audio components (chokes) in the TX which is the reason for the test.

1500 No one - Johnny Moped - Audio is fine now.  Carrier a bit off frequency.
1503 TX Off

How much juice is coming out of your TX?

About 500. 450 at the aerial.

Frequency :
I read 5800.00 on my RX (no more figures here, I read at the next 10 Hz)
Usually, this is 0.01 low or so, even less than that.

Every time I can check with the Twente SDR, I am as close as I can read.
If you the better readings, look at the Twente sdr in SAM mode.

Just sometimes, the twente SDR can't hear weak stations.
Thanks Ray.
