Just turned on the radio, and I'm hearing Josiah with a pretty good signal here near Seattle. As usual, a fair amount of fading with this signal between the peaks.

32
Turned on the radio just in time to hear the "Days of Hard Life" song. Signal was fair at best with lots of noise tonight.

Can't hear anything now as of 0355 UTC on the frequency. Can't tell if he signed off immediately after the song or if the signal just fell to nothing.

Update: Checked a few West Coast SDRs; he seems to have indeed signed off a few moments after I tuned in.

33
He's back for the second night in a row with the usual preaching style. Better signal with less noise than last night.

34
I haven't heard this one in a week or more, but YHWH's back on 7475 kHz right now. Fair to good signal with fading heard here northeast of Seattle, but quite a bit of noise in the band as well.

0225 UTC: "Days of Hard Life" song played; the signal's really getting buried by noise now and fading deeply here.

35
Just turned on the radio and found the usual preaching style on this frequency amid lots of noise and some deep fades at times.

0327 UTC: "Days of Hard Life" song.
0330 UTC: Off.

Loud out here near Seattle with "Get Off of My Cloud" by Rolling Stones.

0204 UTC: "Turn! Turn! Turn!" by the Byrds.
0208 UTC: "Wooly Bully" by Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs. Signal's waning a bit now.
0210 UTC: "Under my Thumb" by the Rolling Stones.
0214 UTC: Female synth voice said something I couldn't catch with the SSB distortion here.
0219 UTC: "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks.
0230 UTC: "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane. Signal's nearly down in the noise now.
0232 UTC: "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood."
0235 UTC: "My Generation" by The Who.

Radio Vanuatu on its third harmonic frequency of 11835 kHz is now solidly audible here near Seattle for the second night in a row. Before that, I was only hearing the carrier making it through the noise.

As with last night, I'm hearing a female announcer talking in Bislama at length between island music songs. The first night, I also heard presumed CNR-2 in Chinese at times in the background. Tonight, though, little sign of that one.

This week is one of the first times I've heard Vanuatu since late summer of 2020.

Signal's fading a lot and getting lost in the noise here, but I can hear Josiah talking at times. This one's been very active lately after weeks/months away.

I've tried for this one before, but I just happened to stop on 1610 two nights ago and heard weak music in Spanish. Last night, 0605-0703 UTC on May 2, the signal was better and the music could be heard from across the room at times. I heard only a snippet of talking in Spanish the first night. On May 2, I heard what sounded like station information at 0700 UTC, but I never heard the call letters uttered. However, the music both nights matched perfectly what I heard via an SDR in Ontario and on station’s online stream.

This station runs 10 6.25 kW; distance is 2,052 miles from me in Lake Stevens, Washington.

Listening via Weiser, Idaho, SDR ...

0109 UTC: Noises, then "KIPM" and address announced by male voice amid the noise. This is the "High-Frequency Radio Church" episode from the KIPM archives ...

0112 UTC: Old "The Outer Limits" TV show introduction dubbed with KIPM ID.
0114 UTC: "Pruit Igoe & Prophecies" by The Philip Glass Ensemble, with Alan Maxwell telling a story about the Tree of Knowledge and Adam and Eve over the music.
0122 UTC: Just bits of the audio are now audible on my radio out here in Lake Stevens, WA.
0127 UTC: Repeat of the noisy KIPM ID with the old P.O. Box address in Lula, Georgia.
0129 UTC: Instrumental music, then male voice talking about God, followed by a variety of voices talking about God.
0134 UTC: Another KIPM ID and address announcement over noisy music, then back to the calm instrumental from before as Alan Maxwell starts talking about the "High-Frequency Radio Church" with a "caller," who he makes repeat an absurd prayer referencing muskrats, Lake Charles, etc.
0144 UTC: Back to the instrumental music, another ID, address announcement. Then "Pruit Igoe & Prophecies" starts again as Alan Maxwell tells story of Mary and Joseph.
0156 UTC: Music continues past the end of the story, then sound effects and a soundbite of the Lord's Prayer over old soundtrack-like music.
0200 UTC: Repeat of "The Outer Limits" ID for KIPM as the signal's weakening.

Thanks to whoever brought Alan Maxwell back to the airwaves tonight!

Good signal, but battling lots of noise and some deep fades at times. As always, the usual preaching.

42
I was just wondering the other day if the FCC had caught up with YHWH again, as I hadn't heard Josiah and his rants for quite a while. But there he is tonight with a fair to good signal amid the noise on the 7-MHz band.

I was checking for KGB in San Diego on the frequency when I stumbled on this one, which I first mistook for KGB due to its conservative talk. This one from Denver's north side goes by “Freedom 760” and runs with Fox News, which isn’t KGB’s news network. I later confirmed what I was hearing by matching it via a Colorado SDR.

The signal was fair, but it faded to nothing at times. Presumed KGB could be heard fading in and out in the background. This runs 1 kW at night; distance from me is 1,016 miles.

Shortwave Broadcast / Radio New Zealand 11725 AM 0820 UTC 20 Feb 2021
« on: February 20, 2021, 0825 UTC »
Radio New Zealand's been unusually tough to hear nicely at night here lately, but it was booming in nicely with a few songs in a row by Leonard Cohen (one of my absolute favorites) in the midnight hour locally here on the U.S. West Coast.

I ventured back down to the sub-500 kHz part of the band last night for the first time in months and logged the following on Feb. 16 UTC:

223 kHz: YKA in Kamloops, British Columbia, at 0818 UTC. Weak but clear signal, not too much fading.

290 kHz: YYF in Penticton, British Columbia, at 0809 UTC. Fair signal at the peaks with fading.

312 kHz: UNT near Penticton, British Columbia, at 0804 UTC. Weak, sometimes barely audible.

344 kHz: XX near Abbotsford, British Columbia, at 0759 UTC. Weak to fair signal, faded up a little in cycles.

350 kHz: NY near Enderby Airport in British Columbia, at 0757 UTC. Weak to fair signal, faded up and down in cycles. Listed as being decommissioned on Feb. 25?

355 kHz: PND near Portland, Oregon, at 0752 UTC. This one's tentative because it was so weak, but definitely a U.S.-based beacon based on the Morse pattern.

368 kHz: SX near Cranbrook, British Columbia, at 0748 UTC. Very good signal.

382 kHz: AW in nearby Arlington, Washington, at 0737 UTC. Very good with YE in Fort Nelson, B.C., in the background. This beacon was off when I last checked in the fall months.

382 kHz: YE in Fort Nelson, British Columbia, at 0739 UTC. Heard fair but clear behind AW on this frequency. This one's 748 miles from my QTH.

388 kHz: JW in Pigeon, Alberta, at 0708 UTC. Weak to fair, with some interference from YWB on 389 kHz at times. This one's about to be decommissioned, too?
