Fair via NA5B SDR, but with some fading ...

0045 UTC: "Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton John, right into "American Idiot" by Green Day.
0048 UTC: "Living in America" by James Brown.

512
Yep - I tuned in around 2244 UTC just in time for the CW and SSTV, followed by signoff.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: 9.525 mhz 0230 utc
« on: July 03, 2020, 0631 UTC »
Scheduled on that frequency at that time is Radyo Denge Welat in Kurdish, which is aimed straight east toward the greater Persian region from Issoudun, France. Often plays Middle Eastern-style music.

I've heard it on that frequency once or twice from here on the U.S. West Coast.

Good to fair signal with fading and some noise via the NA5B SDR near Washington, D.C. ...

0213 UTC: "Sparkle" by Theodor Ellefsen.
0217 UTC: Off.

515
Fair but noisy signal via NA5B near D.C. as of 0126 UTC.

Caught it just as "Life is Good" by Future featuring Drake started.

Tuned in at 0102 UTC via NA5B near D.C. when I heard the loud male-voiced ID saying "You're tuned to Blackstar Radio." Strong signal with little noise or fading.

All the songs so far are from that final Bowie album with the "Blackstar" title.

0102 UTC: "Where Are We Now?"
0106 UTC: "I Can't Give Everything Away."
0112 UTC: Quick "Blackstar Radio" ID into "I'd Rather Be High (Venetian Mix)." (This song's actually from "The Next Day" album, but I'm not picky.)
0115 UTC: "Lazarus" ... one of my favorites from that final album! Now listening via the Northern Utah SDR, where the signal's fair but noisy!
0122 UTC: ID in distorted male voice: "You're listening to Blackstar Radio," then "So She," which comes from "The Next Day" album.
0128 UTC: Quick recorded ID into "Valentine's Day" from "The Next Day" album.
0131 UTC: "No Plan."

Radio Nacional coming in with news as of 1710 UTC, followed by a song at 1713 UTC. Only remarkable in that I can't ever remember hearing this routine afternoon station at 10 a.m. local time before. Conditions in the mid-morning here are usually not favorable for this one!

That said, the signal's weak and just barely overcoming noise on the frequency; SINPO 35222.

518
Yeah, out west here, KFAX out of San Francisco dominates 1100 kHz, with KNZZ out of Grand Junction, Colorado, sometimes popping up. Never heard anything else on that frequency.

519
The signal's not loud out here near Seattle, but it's audible above the noise with music as of 0308 UTC.

Tuned in via NA5B near Washington, D.C., at 0026 UTC ... fair signal but lots of noise.

0026 UTC: TV ads, including a MyPillow ad.
0030 UTC: Sounds like Tucker Carlson's show. Fading and noise are increasing.
0044 UTC: I don't often watch cable news; are ALL the ad breaks this endless?
0045 UTC: Tucker talking about and then interviewing a guest about security details for NYC council members.
0056 UTC: MyPillow ad again.

Saw the posts that Redhat was on, so I checked my radio around 0458-0505 UTC and heard Redhat talking with music in the background, then a song started at about 0504. Audible out here near Seattle, but not quite readable through the noise.

522
Signal with barely audible music has been rising here since just before 0200 UTC. I also heard the SSTV noise around 0205 UTC.

Shortwave Broadcast / Radio Guinee 9650 AM 0640 UTC 26 June 2020
« on: June 26, 2020, 0720 UTC »
I've been missing Radio Guinee's music programs during my local afternoons this spring and summer; that signal on 9650 kHz hasn't been heard here near Seattle as in previous years.

However, I FINALLY heard Radio Guinee tonight. Started listening on 9650 and heard news in French with both male and female announcers. The signal was only fair at best, but still was audible over the annoying interference our high-tech washing machine makes on my radio.

My listening was spoiled, however, at 0700 UTC by Voice of Korea signing onto the same frequency with its Japanese service. That created a noisy mess.

It was a good night for late-night signals from Africa, as Radio Mali also was more audible on 5995 kHz than I've heard it in weeks.

524
Noisy with fading as of 0355 UTC when I tuned in, but very audible with nice audio at the peaks.

Just two minutes after I tuned in, "Days of Hard Life" played. Josiah talked for a moment or two at 0359 UTC as the noise overtook the signal. Signoff at 0401 UTC.

Just turned on the radio at 0145 UTC and found the music just barely audible out hear on my radio out here. But it's loud and clear via the NA5B SDR near D.C. ...

0145 UTC: "Dance of the Clarvoyants" by Pearl Jame.
0148 UTC: X-FM canned ID, then "Industrial Disease" by Dire Straits.
