Listening via NA5B near D.C. ...

0022 UTC: Repeated Radio Azteca interval signal, layered with repeated singing bit and repeated spoken "f*** pirate radio."
0025 UTC: Signal got way louder as the song "Hard Row to Hoe" by Brother Dege started playing.
0028 UTC: "Evil Ways" by Blue Saraceno. The noise level's starting to swamp the signal again.
0030 UTC: Short SSTV into another song, but the audio's nearly lost in the noise.

542
Listening via NA5B near D.C. as of 0007 UTC, but it's just above the noise floor.

543
Tuned in via the Northern Utah SDR while "New Sky" by Rufus du Sol's still playing at 2344 UTC.

Weak but audible signal via that SDR, though there's an interference whine that's annoying!

2345 UTC: Redhat on the mic with the time, etc., before "Blur" by M0.
2349 UTC: Redhat with intro into The Clash's "London Calling." (I'm always happy to hear more Clash songs on shortwave!)
2352 UTC: Redhat on mic, pauses to stop the turntable, goes over previously played songs, gives email, HFU shoutouts and more.
0000 UTC: IDs and then, after a technical difficulty, "Seven" by Revis.
0027 UTC: Just tuned back in as "Barracuda" by Heart started. Signal's a bit better now via Northern Utah, but that interference whine's still there. No audible signal heard directly at my place.
0031 UTC: ID into "When is the Future?" by VNV Nation.
0036 UTC: Redhat back on mic, mentioning previous songs and doing HFU shoutouts.
0040 UTC: ID, into requested "Before I Die" by Mushroomhead.
0124 UTC: Just tuned in again, this time directly from here in Lake Stevens on both my radio and the K9VD SDR down the road. At this hour, the signal's now audible; just barely, but it's there!
0202 UTC: Signal right here in Lake Stevens is getting better as it gets later here; I can hear Redhat's voice over the background music and it's fully readable at times. Still an annoying interference whine here.
0204 UTC: "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harem.

544
No signal via Northern Utah SDR, let alone here. Via the NA5B SDR in D.C., it sounds good, though the signal keeps fading in and out ... The Mix Radio relay on 6880's much stronger in comparison.

2340 UTC: "New Sky" by Rufus du Sol.

545
Just tuned in at 0418 UTC to hear OM talking over music about America.

Not readable from my location, where the signal is fair but fading in and out. Even via the Northern Utah SDR, which has a better signal, it's not easy to make out his talking. Sounds like he's not a fan of Democrats, though.

546
Fair signal via the Northern Utah SDR despite some static crashes ...

0143 UTC: "Dawn Is a Feeling" by the Moody Blues.
0146 UTC: "WDOG Shortwave" spoken ID by OM, then "Another Morning" by the Moody Blues.
0151 UTC: Barking dogs, spoken ID again into "Lunch Break: Peak Hour" by the Moody Blues. Signal's getting very noisy!
0155 UTC: "Tuesday Afternoon" by the Moody Blues.
0200 UTC: "The Afternoon" by the Moody Blues. The noise is interfering quite a bit now.
0204 UTC: "Evening" by the Moody Blues.

Thanks for the music, WDOG!

Just traces of the signal out here near Seattle, but a loud signal, with some distortion, via the Northern Utah SDR.

0046 UTC: "Dazed and Confused" by The Yardbirds.
0051 UTC: Sounds like a backwards recording of a song.

548
Huge signal via WA2ZKD SDR in Maine ...

0000 UTC: Big Ben chimes. Huge background hum for a moment, then a bit of instrumental music and then more background hum.
0002 UTC: "Jets Overhead" by Kansas, which was played and cut off twice.
0004 UTC: "This is London Calling ..." and BBC interval signals.
0005 UTC: "Run Through the Jungle" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
0007 UTC: Silence with that huge hum again, then part of "Lights" by Ellie Goulding with a BBC tag at the end.
0008 UTC: "Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac.
0010 UTC: After the song was cut short, a short snippet of talking, then more silence, then those Big Ben chimes again.
0013 UTC: "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, then song cut short and silence except for that hum.
0015 UTC: Old interval signal (can't recall whose that is) and start of broadcast recording.
0017 UTC: Hum not heard, off?

549
0159 UTC: Just tuned in and I can hear music directly at my radio out here, currently Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is." It's not a great signal, but fair at the peaks. I also can hear it VERY well via the Northern Utah SDR.
0202 UTC: A bit of Morse code, then off, I think. I swear I can still hear faint talking, but nothing rising above the noise floor.

550
Not receivable out west past about Northern Utah, and the storm noise at that SDR is significant tonight. Listening via the Northern Kentucky SDR ...

As of 0207 UTC, the talking is just barely audible.

Tried my radio again at 0212 UTC and thought I heard traces of the talking, so I dialed up K9VD, the SDR down southeast of town from me, and there is indeed a barely audible signal out here.

10/11 meters / Re: Huge 11m opening Morning 30 May 2020
« on: June 03, 2020, 0115 UTC »
Hearing 11m operators right now (0100 UTC/1800 PDT) from Nevada, Southern Oregon and California, among other places. Signals overlapping in multiple layers.

Hi, Redhat -

Just tuned in at 0323 UTC as you were reading HFU shoutouts. The signal's fading in and out pretty wildly at times here, but during the peaks, it's very listenable and sounds good here in Lake Stevens, WA.

0325 UTC: Redhat chatting about music, giving the time and phone number, etc., with background music going.
0326 UTC: Synth voice "new music on X-FM" promo into "Might be Right" by White Reaper.
0330 UTC: Promo for HFU right into "Let's Dance" by David Bowie (Ah! So many teenage memories attached to this album!).
0338 UTC: Canned ID into "Lie to Me" by Jonny Lang. Signal's stabilizing here as the sunset passes.
0343 UTC: Redhat with intro into "Cigarettes" by Tash Sultana, then "New Sky" by Rufus Du Sol ("Better fire up your subwoofers for this," Redhat says.).
0353 UTC: Redhat reading shoutouts from HFU, mentioning how to get a QSL, talking about propagation, last few songs played, email address, etc.
0400 UTC: "Temporary" by White Rabbits.
OK, off to dinner (yes, we eat late out here) ...
Welp, dinner wasn't ready ... tuned in again at 0411 UTC to hear Meg Myers' cover of Kate Bush's "Running up that Hill" (good choice!).
0414 UTC: Canned ID, Redhat with email address, etc., into "Killer" by Adamski + Seal.
0420 UTC: "Writer's Block" by Just Jack after Redhat's intro to the song. The noise is starting to catch up with this signal out here. :(

553
Third night in a row on this frequency after some time off the air. Good signal rising here with this usual spiel, but I'm going back to listening to X-FM now.

554
Via NA5B SDR in D.C. area ...

2252 UTC: News report-style story on a relationship problem.
2256 UTC: "C'mon Everybody" by Eddie Cochran.
2258 UTC: Off.

555
Fair from NA5B near Washington, D.C., with fading and noise ...

2216 UTC: "Mary Jane" by Rick James.
2219 UTC: "Marijuana Funk" by Marijuana Mike + Surfboard C.
2222 UTC: "Marijuana" by Johnny Osbourne & Roots Radics. Signal got better for a moment or two then the fading and noise returned.
2225 UTC: Synthetic female voice w/ ID and email address repeated, then "Granny Wontcha Smoke Some Marijuana" by John Hartford, though the audio's getting overwhelmed by noise.
* stepped away a moment *
2232 UTC: "Sensimillia" by Collie Buddz + Roache. Song seemed to stop suddenly.
2234 UTC: Off?
