Fair signal audible in USB via the Northern Utah SDR, even a trace of a signal heard directly here in USB.

0040 UTC: Sounds like it's from the "JCS" soundtrack.
0043 UTC: Just barely heard the ID, into another soundtrack song.

No signal out here near Seattle. I can hear the music as of 0035 UTC via the Northern Utah SDR, but it's weak and only audible in SSB.

Just tuned in directly from here and heard an SSTV transmission as of 0219 UTC. It's just barely audible here near Seattle; very good via the Northern Utah SDR ... I'm listening to both.

0220 UTC: "409" by The Beach Boys.
0222 UTC: SSTV transmission (too noisy to decode from here).
0223 UTC: "Little Deuce Coupe" by The Beach Boys, with an SSTV transmission started over the top.
0225 UTC: "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry.
* Stepped away a moment *
0230 UTC: Country-sounding song with female singer.
0234 UTC: "Eastbound and Down" by Jerry Reed, interrupted by an SSTV, then the song resumed.
0238 UTC: Off.

Thanks for the music, Evil Penguin!

While scanning past 11860, I found a weak but audible signal with a male speaking in Arabic. After 0310 UTC, the talking gave way to Middle Eastern music that stayed above the evening noise and got slightly better as time went on; still listening to it now.

I double-checked with an SDR near Washington, D.C., and one in Kuwait City, Kuwait, to confirm that I was hearing. SINPO 25232.

Just tuned in at 0158 UTC, the carrier can be heard way out here directly in AM mode; in LSB, I can hear bits of the music. Signal's slowly rising in strength.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: Radio Nacional de Amazonia 6180
« on: May 15, 2020, 2353 UTC »
Now I'm trying to remember the old frequencies Radio Bras - Radio Nacional do Brasil would use in the '80s. I'd probably have to look that up on an old QSL card, but I haven't unpacked my collection from our recent move.

In any case, I don't remember Radio Bras coming in as well in those days; but my radio and antenna weren't as good back then, either.

It's amazing how that station, day in and day out, seems to deliver an S9 signal up here on both 11780 and 6180.

I'd never even heard of this broadcast service via Nauen until I looked it up last night.

The religious program in Arabic lasts only 15 minutes, so it was off by 0615 UTC. Female and male announcers speaking in Arabic with music underneath most of the time. The signal aimed at North Africa and the Middle East was weak, but consistently audible.

This was a weak signal, but the talking in presumed Kachin and music were audible between when I tuned in and signoff. This broadcast is beamed toward Asia, though if it's on the beam listed in short-wave.info, it seems to be directed too far north for most Kachin speakers.

Tuned in at 2142 via Burke, Virginia, SDR just in time to hear the final chorus of "We've Gotta Get Out of this Place" by The Animals and then off. The signal was fair against a moderately noisy background.

Tuned in via Burke, Virginia's N4TVC SDR just in time to hear SSTV transmissions at 0011 UTC. Signal's OK but noisy.

0013 UTC: Repetitive tone pattern playing.
0015 UTC: Sounds like fax or teletype via shortwave sounds.
0019 UTC: SSTV transmission; still too noisy to decode anything clearly.
0022 UTC: Distorted song that starts with singer yelling: "Is there anybody in the audience that has a birthday today? Happy birthday to you." The start of that was repeated a couple times, then cut off.
0025 UTC: Off?

Fair signal via Burke, Virginia, SDR. No signal out west here ...

2316 UTC: "Private Idaho" by The B-52s.
2318 UTC: "Rock Lobster" by The B52s.
2323 UTC: "Our Lips are Sealed" by The Go-Go's.
2326 UTC: "We've Got the Beat" by The Go-Go's.
2329 UTC: Closing announcement with female voice giving ID and email for reception reports.
2330 UTC: Off.

Very nice audio via NATVC SDR in Burke, Virginia, as of 2350 UTC.

I checked the SDR close to me near Seattle and the Northern Utah one, and this signal's not making it anywhere out west right now.

Checked back in at 0240 UTC and found a fair signal on the SDR down the road from me in Machias, Washington, and an audible signal directly on my own radio. Still sounds good!

I caught the BBC via Moosbrunn broadcasting in presumed Hausa aimed straight at Africa. The noisy, weak signal had mostly audible talking by a male, with musical stings, then talking by a female.
