I can hear it via the Northern Utah SDR, but SO much noise tonight, so I'm listening via the Peoria, Illinois, SDR ... signal's swinging from good at the peaks to barely listenable under the static at times.

0220 UTC: Old IS and then opening anthem from an old shortwave station.
0221 UTC: Female synth voice with Radio Nova ID and email address.
0222 UTC: Jazzy music.
0227 UTC: Trying a variety of SDRs in the Midwest and Upper Midwest, but the noise is hard to overcome tonight!
0228 UTC: Another old IS being played. Can't recall this one from memory. That's followed by opening of another old shortwave broadcast, but I can't hear it through the noise.
0234 UTC: Old IS and opening announcement from FEBC being played. I found a better SDR in northern Indiana, but OTHR is now getting this frequency.
0236 UTC: The old IS and shortwave stuff is cool, but the "woodpecker" sounds are getting to my ears. Thanks for the broadcast!

Listening in AM mode via NA5B SDR in Washington, D.C., area ... LOTS of static!

0128 UTC: Caught the end of the Steely Dan song, then a quiet male synth voice said something I didn't catch.
0129 UTC: "Eden (Orchestra Version)" by Hooverphonic.
0133 UTC: "My Life" by Noriko Miyamoto.
0139 UTC: "If You Don't Believe" by Deniece Williams.
0147 UTC: "Jade" by Rudy Willingham.
0149 UTC: "On the Turning Away" by Pink Floyd.
0155 UTC: ID again, male voice (and I couldn't tell this time whether it was human or synth). It was still too low for me to hear clearly. But per Traveling Wave, it said Foxy AM.
0059 UTC: Either off or lost to the increasing noise.

Thanks Foxy (or whoever you are) for the great tunes. I love Hooverphonic, which is an oft-overlooked band!

Listening via Northern Utah SDR, which is getting a fair signal peaking at S5 ... no audio heard yet here near Seattle.

0008 UTC: Zeke chatting about music, how young folks must feel about staying at home, etc.
0011 UTC: "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" by Arctic Monkeys.
0014 UTC: Zeke back talking about last night's storm and technical issues, then gives a "K-I-N-D" ID. Chats for a while more, talks about the virus, trying to decide what songs to play.
0018 UTC: "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers.
0021 UTC: Zeke back on the mic. "Our minds are sharp, it's just that our bodies have gone downhill," he said just before debating what song to play next. KIND ID again.
0022 UTC: "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon.
0025 UTC: Talks about Warren Zevon (pretty sure it's pronounced "Zee-von"), says "we'll catch you on the weekend ..."
0026 UTC: "In Hell I'll be in Good Company" by The Dead South.
0030 UTC: Zeke gives ID again, talks about technical stuff.
0031 UTC: "Wagon Wheel" by Old Crow Medicine Show.
0034 UTC: "All I Have to do is Dream" by the Everly Brothers.
0037 UTC: "The Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley.
0039 UTC: "F*** All The Perfect People" by Chip Taylor.
0043 UTC: Off.

Very solid, clear signal heard via K3FEF SDR in Pennsylvania ...

2219 UTC: Upbeat smooth jazz tune.
2220 UTC: Guy with a British accent talking with a woman and taking a phone request.
2221 UTC: "Euge One-Oh-One" by Euge Groove.
2229 UTC: "Sonic Dreams" by Brian Culbertson (had to go upstairs for a few moments, so I'm sure I missed a bit in between).
2231 UTC: Host talking again, not totally readable as the signal's getting noisy, into "Let's Ride" by Jeffrey Smith.
2234 UTC: Some more talk, another song, and then the host was back at 2240 UTC. By that time, however, the static level via this SDR was overcoming the audio.

Now listening via Elmira, New York, SDR ... signal's more static-free from here.

2248 UTC: Host and female host bickering a bit then introducing next song, "Goodbye Columbus" by George Benson.
2249 UTC: Host is back, playing voicemail from Seal Beach, California, into "Bahia" by Rick Braun.
2254 UTC: Host mentions "BestSmoothJazz.com" and says the show is available via YouTube or streaming via Alexa, so I'm guessing somebody is indeed streaming this into a transmitter.
2255 UTC: "Tradewinds" by Steve Oliver.

Via N4TVC SDR in Burke, Virginia ...

2317 UTC: Same synth-voice ID and email address announcement that aired during the broadcast earlier today, then a minute of music.
2319 UTC: ID announcement again, then surf rock.
2321 UTC: ID and email again, then moody instrumental (soundtrack?) music.
2323 UTC: SSTV transmission of "Spooky Stories" graphic.
2325 UTC: Back to the spooky instrumental song.
2326 UTC: ID announcement repeated again; signal's fading out at times.
2328 UTC: SSTV transmission; this one was too blurry to make out.
2330 UTC: ID announcement again, then "Dead City Radio and The New Gods of Supertown" by Rob Zombie.
2334 UTC: ID announcement with frequency announced this time, then SSTV transmission of a cartoon pig with jack-o-lanterns and blurry writing.
2336 UTC: "Werewolf Women of The SS" by Rob Zombie.
2339 UTC: Start of "Werewolf, Baby!" by Rob Zombie, then ID announcement, then SSTV tranmission (that picuture did not decode clearly at all for me).
2342 UTC: Back to "Werewolf, Baby!"

No trace of the signal out here near Seattle; just a hint of it at times via the Northern Utah No. 1 SDR as of 2345 UTC.

Thanks for the broadcast, Dead City Radio!

2241 UTC: ID repeated again, then an instrumental rock song (my Shazam app's not working right now).
2244 UTC: Off?
Those two lines at 2141 and 2144 UTC (last edit was at 2145 UTC)
You're completely correct on that. Too little coffee in my system today, and I was rushing to type this during a work-from-home break, so I forgot how to tell time!  :)

Shortwave Broadcast / Eye Radio 15410 AM 1625 UTC 5 May 2020
« on: May 05, 2020, 2204 UTC »
This is one of the signs of the coming summer for me: Eye Radio's audible again during the mornings out here on the West Coast.

Caught the station broadcasting from Issoudun, France, with a weak but very audible signal, except on the fades after 1635 UTC. Lots of talking in Arabic (Sudanese Arabic, according to the schedule) by a male host and a short “news-like” musical sting at 1633 UTC. SINPO 25322 at the peaks, but it degraded from there as the hour went on.

Got the same one here. Never been so excited to see Billy Joel's face in my email.

Thanks, FRB!

2120 UTC: Hearing a nice, strong SSTV signal via the NA5B SDR near Washington, D.C.
2121 UTC: "Spooky" by Classics IV. Sounds good!
2123 UTC: Male computer voice repeating "This is a demo ..." with ID and email address.
2124 UTC: "Spooky" cover by Atlanta Rhythm Section.
2126 UTC: Song cut off, then Morse code (I don't know Morse, so I can only guess it's the station ID in code).
2127 UTC: SSTV transmission, which I caught on my decoder app: Frankenstein-like monster holding a "Spooky Empire" sign.
2129 UTC: Same synth-voice ID as before, then a bouncy "spooky" song.
2131 UTC: Repeated ID as before, ending with "Enjoy the scary!", followed by another cover of "Spooky," this time by a female singer.
2134 UTC: ID repeated again, back into the same "spooky" dance song first played at 2129 UTC.
(Tuned out a minute to restart my phone)
2138 UTC: Morse code again, then a "Spooky Stories" graphic via SSTV transmission.
2141 UTC: ID repeated again, then an instrumental rock song (my Shazam app's not working right now).
2144 UTC: Off?

Welcome, Dead City Radio! There's a Clash song called "City of the Dead" that would be appropriate to play next time you're on.

Tuned in via North Ridgefield, Ohio ...

0045 UTC: "What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye, though the music's pretty distorted on the signal.
0048 UTC: OM on the mic, can just barely hear him through the noise.

Switched to SDR in Kingsville, Ontario, just in time to hear start of "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles at 0053 UTC. Signal's a bit better.
0056 UTC: OM back on the mic with ID and shout-outs. Noise is taking over again, though.

626
Listening via Burke, Virginia ... fair signal but some fading.

0027 UTC: "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who just ending.
0028 UTC: "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed/Velvet Underground ... cut off after a few bars of music. Welp, that was fast; gone now.

Same one here; thanks Radio Nova!

Just tuned in via Jumonville, PA, SDR. Signal is fair with storm static crashes ... no audible signal out west here.

0136 UTC: "No Sugar Tonight" by The Guess Who.
0138 UTC: OM with a welcome, test counting, ID and intro to "I'm Your Captain" by Grand Funk Railroad.

629
Just tuned in via Jumonville, PA, SDR. Signal is loud and clear ...

0053 UTC: "Man Who Sold the World" by Nirvana. (MTV acoustic cover. Love this song!)

Just checked, and the signal's weak but audible out here in Lake Stevens, WA.

0056 UTC: Sounds like Zeke talking about being a DJ. Sounds like radio/YouTube going in the background while he's talking.
0057 UTC: Reading HFU posts and looking for requests as he chats.
0100 UTC: "By special request ..." Plays a live recording of a country-rock song.
0103 UTC: Previous song cut off, then "Better Off Without You" by The Clarks.
0108 UTC: Zeke thanks listener for request of The Clarks, talks about some pixelation in the audio, mulling songs to play ...
0109 UTC: "She Talks to Angels" by The Black Crowes.
0114 UTC: "Solitaire Unraveling" by Mushroomhead.
0118 UTC: Zeke calls the previous song "virus-killing music." Goes on to talk about what genres he likes, gives Tick-Tock Radio ID. "Tick-Tock Radio. Stay well, stay home ..." into "Fools" by UFO UFO.
0124 UTC: "You Never Know" by Pacific.
0125 UTC: "South Side" by Rally.
0128 UTC: "Road Less Known" by The Yves.
0130 UTC: "Fortune Teller" by Nearly York.
0132 UTC: "Always" by Berlue.
0133 UTC: Zeke talking on the mic again, this time about indie music, corned beef and cabbage, etc., gave Tick-Tock Radio ID again into "Pursuits" by The Spring.
