I tuned in at 0348 UTC. Considerable noise tonight on this signal here, but it's not fading in and out as severely as it sometimes does.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: CFVP Calgary

I'm under 700 miles away from Calgary, but this one is a reach here during the summer daytime hours, and that Cuban jamming on 6030 can get in the way even after Radio Marti goes off the air. One of the ways I know seasonal conditions are changing is when CFVP comes in easier at all hours, usually in the fall and winter.

However, a couple nights this week, I've heard CFVP coming in over the jamming during local late-night hours. The irony, of course, is that the station's AM version on 1060 kHz booms in here at night year-round.

YHWH's somewhat audible here between deep fades, but there's a tone on ~7476 that's adding to the noise.

Very cool. Not sure why it's coming in so well right now, but I had audible music on 15700 yesterday evening while listening in SSB. That continued until a bit after local sunset here.

Yep - I hear Toronto on 6070 nearly every evening. I last logged CFVP Calgary a couple months ago. With Radio Marti staying on longer lately at night on 6030, it's gotten harder to hear from here, just ~600 miles away from Calgary.

Josiah's audio has been gradually fading in here the past 20 minutes or so, but there's still deep fading and static at times. That said, I'm able to hear YHWH with no external antenna on my little R-108 when I stand on my back deck tonight.

Audible but relatively weak and battling noise via the Northern Utah SDR. Not audible out here near Seattle yet.

Do we know if they've done anything dramatic to change their transmitter setup last year? When I'm up late enough to check reception on the third harmonic from up here near Seattle, I've often heard audio rather than just the signal. I feel like I didn't often hear good audio last year until we entered the summer months here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Hearing rock music just above the noise while listening in USB here near Seattle.

1852 UTC: "Vicarious" by Tool.
1857 UTC: "Jambi" by Tool.

Just turned my radio on, and Josiah's words are audible at the peaks as of 0318 UTC, but lots of fading in between here near Seattle.

My plans to go to bed at a reasonable time before my first workday after a week's vacation were foiled when I stumbled on a fair signal with music from LV de tu Conciencia last night (April 10 UTC date). At 0648 UTC, a female-voiced ID mentioned Colombia, then went into a very lively song with a male singer in Spanish. The music that followed was a bit of everything, from the classical piece "Vienna Life" to more Spanish-language songs to "Ours" by Taylor Swift. There was another female-voiced ID at 0703 UTC and again at 0707 UTC, just before the song "It Won't be Long" by Flatt & Scruggs.

Overall, fair reception at best using my long-wire antenna; the signal got noisier after 0700 UTC. First time I've heard this station. It was worth staying up late for as I sipped some Glenlivet 12.

Late-night listening from here near Seattle ...

0725 UTC: Very weak electronic dance music heard in LSB, but it faded in gradually better after 0730 UTC, and what I heard on my radio matched the music heard via the KPH-HF SDR in Northern California.
0730 UTC: Song playing at this time apparently was by XAHHA.
0732 UTC: "Billy Jean" by Besomorph, Anthony Keyrouz, & HINTRLAND.
0735 UTC: Sounded like a bit of talking. Maybe an ID? That was followed by another song, but the signal took a big dive around this time.
0738 UTC: "Vision II" by Kandovan was playing, according to the Shazam app.
0741 UTC: Dance music continued, but I couldn't ID this song.
0742 UTC: "Sadism" by Locked Club featuring Any Act.
0745 UTC: Sounded like "Sadism" was still playing, but the music was fading into the noise again.

Thanks for the music, Radio Vostochnaya Zvezda!

The "Dazzle Ships" album by OMD is a longtime favorite of mine. When I discovered it as a teen in the 1980s, I couldn't imagine an album more tailor-made for my tastes, as I liked (still do) electronic music and shortwave.

Heard here near Seattle with the old Radio Moscow IS (My old brain thinks it was Radio Moscow, at least) between songs at 0154 UTC. It's just above the noise level here and heard best at present in USB.

Since darkness fully took over here around 0250 UTC or so, I've been directly hearing just barely audible music, mostly at the noise floor level, but it's occasionally rising just a bit above the noise.

0325 UTC: Really peaking the past few minutes. Still weak, but more audible than it's been since I tuned in.

0333 UTC: Peaking again; I can hear the music from across my room.
