22 Meter Band HiFER Beacons / Re: Strong RTTY or similar on 22m
« on: March 29, 2023, 0010 UTC »
I just checked the signal on 13558 via the KPH SDR and then compared it to the strong signal I'm hearing here north of Seattle on the same frequency; they seem to match.

92
The past 10 minutes, the YHWH signal's fading in and out, reaching slightly better peaks here as the minutes pass, but it's still not quite good enough to hear Josiah.

His signal's also noisier than usual on the Northern Utah SDR, though the audio's making it to here.

93
Pretty good via the Northern Utah SDR, though starting to fade a little; only audible on the peaks here near Seattle, though ...

0153 UTC: Long instrumental rock guitar solo.
0155 UTC: OM on the mic, laughing and giving an ID, then playing "Pig Calling Contest" by Andre Antunes.
0159 UTC: "Of course you know it's all in fun," OM said before giving ID with a little chuckle at the end.
0159 UTC: Off.

Yep, UConn is a beast this year, unfortunately for Gonzaga (I got my master's from Gonzaga in 2015 and am rabid about the Zags). I think UConn has a good chance of taking it all this year. But I'm also a vengeful fan when it comes to my teams, so I'm rooting for FAU now!

Best wishes for DX'ing and for my Mariners to actually make it to the post-season for TWO years in a row!

96
Did you mean 0311 UTC? I checked, and he didn't seem to be on in the 0200 hour.

As of 0315 UTC here near Seattle, I can hear YHWH's signal, but no audio fading in yet. Noisy on the band tonight!

97
You seem to be correct in yesterday's thread that Josiah's having transmitter or technical problems. The audio dropped out for a long pause around 0256 UTC tonight. Anyway, Josiah's still going as of 0300 UTC. Still mostly inaudible up here near Seattle. I'm listening via the Northern Utah SDR.

"Days of Hard Life" song played at 0303 UTC as Josiah started wrapping up the broadcast. Then, Josiah on the mic at 0305 UTC with the live portion of his program before signing off at 0308 UTC.

General Radio Discussion / Re: Pirate listeners younger than 30
« on: March 20, 2023, 2335 UTC »
I have several radios more than 30 years old (I'm 52). I have three kids, with my oldest about to turn 21 this summer. I've tried to get them interested in radio and DXing at various times, but they all see radio as an "ancient" medium. It's hard to dissuade them of that as AM and shortwave stations keep going off the air!

99
Just barely audible at the peaks here near Seattle as of 0240 UTC.

I tuned in around 0225 UTC. Josiah played "Days of Hard Life" at 0317 UTC, said some live words at 0319 UTC, then signed off at 0322 UTC. The signal never fully faded up here tonight, so I mostly listened via SDRs in Nevada and Utah.

Thanks for the updated frequencies for the 0220 and 0240 UTC broadcasts. I tried to hear those, but I had outdated frequencies!

Same one received here this morning. Thanks, CR!

Tuned in via the Northern Utah SDR, where the signal's blasting in. Here near Seattle, the audio's just making it above the noise ...

0116 UTC: Synth female and male voices having a conversation, giving Crapola Radio ID, and saying goodbye to listeners.

0117 UTC: "The Great Pretender" by The Platters.

0119 UTC: "Ain't that a Shame" by Fats Domino.

0122 UTC: Synth voices talking again about the boogeyman and saying they're read listener comments next time. They mentioned the St. Patrick's Day QSL, one last ID by male voice: "You're listening to Crapola Radio, all free all the time."

0123 UTC: Signoff.

Sorry I didn't hear more of the broadcast today!
