Just tuned in via Burke, Va., SDR (not audible out west here; I checked) ...

2219 UTC: "Little T&A" by The Rolling Stones. Weak signal overall.

902
2215 UTC: Just barely audible on the local SDR, K9VD, in Machias, Washington, with "Revolution 1" by The Beatles. Right at noise level on my own radio out here.

903

2251 UTC: OM giving title of song and then ID'ing as Skunk Hole Radio, followed by echoey laugh and talking about broadcasting on Halloween before giving ID again and saying bye.
2252 UTC: Off.

904
Listening via SDR in Burke, Virginia ...

2014 UTC: “Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats
2017 UTC: “Safety Dance” starts again, then part of another song, then “Safety Dance” again at 2019 UTC.
2021 UTC: silence/off.

Heard via the Uniontown, Pa., SDR ...

0141 UTC: “Riboflavin-Flavored, Non-Carbonated, Polyunsaturated Blood” by Don Hinson
0144 UTC: “Shakin’ All Over” by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates
0146 UTC: Some type of ominous movie music, maybe?
Then lost to fading and noise.

0207 UTC: Just barely audible again via Central Pennsylvania SDR with some sort of music/narration.

906
0026 UTC: "Sad but True" by Metallica coming in with a fair signal at my closest SDR in Machias, Washington. Followed by Metallica's "Wherever I May Roam."
0034 UTC: "Night Prowler" by AC/DC.

907
0023 UTC: Music just barely audible -- but getting better gradually -- on my local SDR in Machias, Washington.
0024 UTC: Sounded like an ID or chat for a moment, but it was uncopiable here. Then "She's a Star" by James (one of my favorite bands!).
0027 UTC: "Crash" by James
0031 UTC: "Just Like Fred Astaire" by James amid a bit of OTHR interference.
0035 UTC: ID with LOTS of reverb, but sure sounded like "WEOO," then "I Know What I'm Here For" by James.
0039 UTC: "Space" by James
0043 UTC: Another ID that was hard to hear, then "Falling Down" by James.
0046 UTC: There may have been an ID intertwined as the next song, "English Beefcake" by James, started.
0052 UTC: I missed some of the ID announcement, but definitely made out "WENO" this time. Then "Fine" by James.
0055 UTC: "WENO now concludes its broadcast day ..." into James' "Getting Away With It (All Messed Up)."
(THAT'S A GREAT SONG. It's in my top 20 favorites of all time!)

THANKS FOR ALL THE JAMES MUSIC!

908
0018 UTC: Just tuned in and heard Billie Holiday's "If Dreams Come True." Nicely audible through the noise on my own radio out here and even better on the local SDR in Machias, Washington.
0021 UTC: Quick "Wolverine Radio" ID in a male voice, then "Everything You Said Came True" by Wingy Manone & His Orchestra.

909
Listening to a loud and mostly clear signal via the Westminster, MD, SDR, as there's no signal from CQ out west here.

2208 UTC: Two SSTV transmissions. Caught part of the second image, which was Hillary Clinton dressed as witch.
2210 UTC: Then an OM announcer saying "Happy birthday if this is your birthday" or something like that ...
Into snippets of a few songs, including "Helter Skelter" by The Beatles. Sounds like he's having audio problems with the music.
2213 UTC: Snippet of "Black Betty" again, then "Whiskey In the Jar" by Thin Lizzy.
2216 UTC: "Long, Long, Long" by The Beatles. Now listening via the D.C.-area SDR of NA5B.

2234 UTC: "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel.
2238 UTC: Off.

No joy out west here: I can't find the signal on my receiver, the local SDR or via SDR in Utah. So listening via Burke, Virginia, SDR, where it's coming in fair with some fading and noise ...

0334 UTC: End of SSTV transmission, followed by Motorhead's "Overkill."
0339 UTC: SSTV

Switched to listening on Chris' SDR in Westminster, Maryland ... signal's much better!

0341 UTC: "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead
0343 UTC: "Bad Dog" SSTV tranmission
0344 UTC: "Breaking the Law" by Motorhead
0347 UTC: Off?
0352 UTC: Back with "Blind in Texas" by W.A.S.P. Now listening via NA5B SDR near D.C. Loud signal!
0355 UTC: "I Rule the Ruins" by Warlock. I can now hear traces of the music on the K9VD SDR in Machias, Washington, about five miles away from me. Nothing identifiable yet on my own radio here.
0359 UTC: "Condition Critical" by Quiet Riot, followed by "Love's a Bitch" by Quiet Riot.
0405 UTC: "Pirate Radio Rocks" SSTV image
0407 UTC: "Nightmare/The Dreamtime" by Motorhead
0411 UTC: SSTV
0413 UTC: "I'm So Bad (Baby I Don't Care)" by Motorhead
0416 UTC: "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies. Still traces of music on the local SDR out here. Maybe a trace on my radio amid the noise? Hard to tell. Still listening via D.C. area.
0418 UTC: "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down. The signal's fading more and more on the D.C. SDR.
0420 UTC: "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack
0424 UTC: "Lullaby" by The Cure ... deep fades hitting the signal now.
0427 UTC: "Goodnight Saigon" by Billy Joel ... into "Goodnight Sweetheart" by The Spaniels.
0430 UTC: Two SSTV images. Despite the fuzzy pixels from all the noise, I could make out "KDOG" on the first image.
0434 UTC: Off.

Thanks for the music and goodnight, KDOG!

Piano jazz playing as of 2240 UTC. A fair signal with some static level via the Burke, Virginia, SDR. Not audible out west here.

2245 UTC: Break in the music for the announcer to shout out the HFU posters.
2247 UTC: Back to the jazz.

Shortwave Broadcast / Radio Guinée 9650 AM 2320 UTC 9 Oct 2019
« on: October 09, 2019, 2336 UTC »
Conakry seems to be reliably back for the fall/winter season out here near Seattle.

In the past couple weeks, I've heard traces of Radio Guinée in the local afternoons here, but today I had audio using just my radio's whip antenna. Listened between about 2320 and 2339 UTC today, hearing mostly Afropop music until the station signed off (they almost never stay on until 0000 UTC as scheduled).

913
Just tuned in - very audible out hear in Lake Stevens, Wash., playing Joe Cocker's "When the Night Comes" as of 2318 UTC.

2320 UTC: Off.

914
2204 UTC: Very free-form jazz music amid the static in USB mode via the Burke, Virginia, SDR. No audible signal from Yeah Man way out west here.

915
Tuned in at 2342 UTC to hear "We'll Sing in the Sunshine" by Gale Garnett in LSB via the Burke, Va., SDR.

2342 UTC: "Sittin' on The Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding. Then the song suddenly ended amid some fading ... maybe heard a quick ID?
2344 UTC: "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" by Johnny Cash

Switched to my local SDR (K9VD) in Machias, Wash., and the signal's fair, very audible with some fading.

2346 UTC: OM announcer with a gravelly voice ... hard to understand amid the fades.
2347 UTC: "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind" by the Lovin' Spoonful
2349 UTC: The announcer said something uncopiable, then played "Baby Don't Go" by Sonny & Cher
2353 UTC: OM announcer again. Didn't catch too much of his chat, but did hear "Anyway, CQ Radio ..." very clearly.
2354 UTC: "Save Me" by Fleetwood Mac
2357 UTC: OM announcer repeated that he likes that song a lot (turned on an echo filter, too) and talked about taking requests and QSLing next time, etc.
2359 UTC: Off.
