Utility / Re: Rostov volmet 6945 USB 1357 utc 26 Oct 2019
« on: November 03, 2019, 1815 UTC »
I heard their ID at the beginning of the transmission. Hereīs my recording from Oct 27: https://www.dropbox.com/s/i7eq1nxzg6iyofh/Rostov%206945.MP3?dl=0
So it was clearly Rostov Volmet.
Itīs not a listed Volmet frequency, but the frequency is one of the Russian Regional Aero-Net frequencies. So the Volmet broadcast might have been there by error as I couldnīt hear them on their 8 MHz frequency on that day.

73,
Patrick

thanks for the information and recording. i'm going to keep listening for it as Rostov Volmet is one i've been trying to hear.

Monitoring some voice activity on this frequency again at 20:40. no music yet  ;D but it sounds like they are preparing for something again.

my source was FlightAware while the flight was in progress: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE223
This was the flight. They must have changed Everett to Boeing Field. When the flight was in progress it was heading to Everett, and a replay of the flight shows it going up to Everett before going to Boeing Field: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/BOE223/history/20191029/1845Z/KMWH/KBFI

how do we know this was Rostov Volmet? the frequency of 6945 doesn't match any i've seen for Rostov Volmet.

Triblade 31 as net control with Avenging Spirit, Oil Well 47, High Plains 68, Charter Oak 42, Beaver Fox 24, Caldera 40, Triblade 60 and Blue Sky 44, among many others. All radios had a tone at the end of keying the mic. Net moved to channel NCE at 19:26. Net moved back to this frequency at 19:30 before closing the net at 19:33. Avenging Spirit continued talking with Triblade 31 talking about distorted audio. Comms ended at 19:35. Seems like a routine net, not an exercise.

Boeing 223 test flight working Boeing Seattle asking for a SELCAL check. Boeing 223 asked if the tests on VHF were ok. Boeing Seattle confirmed they were. That was the end of the conversation. I just checked and this was 237 km test flight from Moses Lake Grant County, Washington (MWH) to Everett, Washington (PAE)

Equipment / Re: MLA-30 Loop antenna
« on: October 27, 2019, 0554 UTC »
Please let me know about your experiences with the MLA-30 antenna. I've seen a lot of positive reviews so far, but would love to hear first hand opinions.

hi, though i am new at this hobby i've gotten pretty good results it seems with the MLA-30. i'm a college student so space was at a premium when thinking about antennas (previously i had an indoor longwire lol). anyway i was looking into loops and decided to give the MLA-30 a try as it was in my budget range.

anyone can look at my loggings in the Utility forum to see some of my results with it from my Seattle, WA location.
