Charlie Alpha 9, Uniform Sierra 70, Uniform Sierra 36 and a bunch of other US and CA stations in a net with signal reports. Anyone know what this is? It's been going on for 2 hrs.

i just monitored this station giving weather with a moderate to strong signal here in Seattle.

i've been monitoring and recording this for the 10 mins or so and looked up the frequency and ran across this post: http://mt-milcom.blogspot.com/2006/06/valiant-shield-2006.html which seems to indicate the frequency is a US Navy one.

EDIT: the comms are hard to copy but i'm recording them in hopes of getting a callsign. one callsign sounded like "Trumpet Blower".
EDIT 2: callsign was Lima Tango. also heard Gulf Whiskey, Delta Foxtrot, Romeo Tango, Quebec Romeo, Vampire and...
Cougar 31 which i believe is this: COUGAR EA-18G VAQ-139, NAS Whidbey Island, WA
EDIT 3: "We're engaging Delta birds, over"
EDIT 4: Now with Audio. i cut out most long pauses between transitions. Highlights around 15:15 in: "Gulf Whisky this is Delta track Romeo Tango 311  .... Can you please identify" followed by "Gulf Whisky all positively identified....authenticated IR... hostile.. authenticated time 2240 Quebec Romeo over. " and then "Gulf Whiskey this is Delta track Romeo Tango 336...reengaging." and "Gulf whiskey this is Delta Cougar 31 RTB safe red, maintain comms until RTB" followed by more comms

Singapore VOLMET came in very strong (S7) with aviation weather for Singapore, Brunei, Bali, Penang and Kuala Lumpur among others.

Flightwatch Southern working various flights. this is my first time logging this. previously i have logged Flightwatch NW Australia on 6541 around the same time. the 6565 frequency was hard to copy at times due to it also being an HFDL frequency.

as a rule if i can hear VMC or VIM on 6507 i check these Flightwatch frequencies:

6541 Flightwatch Northwest
6565 Flightwatch Southern
6610 Flightwatch Northeast

Unlike MWARA HF frequencies which typically are used for international flights often over ocean, Flightwatch frequencies i believe are used for internal domestic Australian flights.

"Ice Pack, Ice Pack this is (unintelligible)...over" repeated several times between 0345-0402.

when i looked up Ice Pack on the MCL list there are two entries:

ICE PACK -possible USS Iwo Jima LHD 7
ICE PACK  PHIBRON MEU Integration / PMINT exercise MCAS Camp Pendleton CA

it was hard to copy with CODAR all over it.

Equipment / Re: Icom IC-R8600 vs Icom IC7300
« on: April 15, 2020, 2118 UTC »
I already have two loop antennas; a W6LVP and a Wellbrook loop, they're both in my attic.

Reason I ask, I want to get an Icom is for the waterfall/spectrum display. Not to keen on the idea of hooking another monitor to display that, in my limited desk space. Yes, I'm also a ham, although a technician, for now...

Thanks to all for the replies.
monitors are much cheaper than multi thousand dollar radios. but if the thought of mounting another monitor (notice i didn't say putting it on your desk) is too much you can always just get a sandalone SDR (that's an SDR with a little built in screen) for under $400: https://www.rtl-sdr.com/afredi-lan-iq-standalone-12-bit-30-khz-to-1-7-ghz-sdr-with-lcd-screen-for-339

that said, i'd just go for another monitor on a mount. i have no idea what kind of monitors you currently use but most new ones are light weight and come ready for VESA mounting options (wall brackets, multi-monitor mounts, etc)

Equipment / Re: L band antennas

Nice antenna the 3d printed part one. Pretty sturdy.

I've found JAERO, Fleetnet, Safetynet all come in fine on an indoor antenna here in S. Texas.

I built these out of nothing more than cardboard, paper, aluminum foil, foam and some copper tape. They just sit there on top of an equipment rack pointing at the ceiling.

i would love to try to build this antenna. do you have a step by step guide for a person totally new at this?
