North American Shortwave Pirate / Foxy AM 6925 AM 1755 UTC 26 Nov 2020
« on: November 26, 2020, 1756 UTC »
Foxy AM signed on at approx 1754 UTC with a super huge signal in the Boston burbs. Announcer is live and said "standby for CW" then into CW.

Alice's Restaurant at 1415 UTC, very nice S8-S9 signal.

183
Very good S8 signal here with old music that almost sounds like it would be in a Warner Bros cartoon at 1412 UTC and then into a vintage Hallmark card radio ad.

Heard this too, about S7. The spoken ID sounded like "Certified Laser Radio" or perhaps "Certified Loser Radio". The phonetics the female synth voice repeated were "certiti edloser", I think? Odd transmission.

Super S9+10 in the Boston burbs. Nice hearing KIPM again! A weird narrative about storm drains at 2028 UTC.

I have a weak-ish, S2 maybe, AM signal on 6970 AM for the last 20 minutes or so. Can't listen with wide bandwidth due to data just above it. Playing cinematic/operatic style music, for lack of a better word. Evidently no ID or announcer activity.

Universal Radio is closing shop. This one hurts. The Ostermans were really dedicated to SWL.

Huge S9+20 signal in the Boston burbs at 1947 UTC with "Kissing" by Bliss. Great audio.

1754 UTC - Sketch ad about Dicks of America. Positive Radio Azteca ID. Very nice signal on 5190 AM and good audio! S9+ in the Boston burbs.

2030 Tune in, S2-S4 on peaks, moderate fading, light pop mx
2031 I Want To Live by Aphrodite's Child

Very nice signal here in the Boston burbs, S9+ with super audio. Playing the Cars at 2004 UTC.

Sycko was heard here in the Boston burbs on my personal KiwiSDR with an 80m dipole. Not strong however, peaks to S3-S4 but some fades into the noise as well.

Stepped away to put a kid to bed, came back and Foxy is back on 6925 at 2310 UTC with Steely Dan. Good signal, S9 on my personal KiwiSDR. Music audio might be a little lower than announcer's audio. Overall very pleasant audio and signal though.

Foxy AM was on 6925 AM up until 2250 UTC with a good signal, played some bluesy rock for a bit, then the announcer complained peskies were on his freq and then he suddenly dropped.

For the past eight months, activity on the sun has steadily increased, indicating we transitioned to Solar Cycle 25. Solar Cycle 25 is forecast to be a fairly weak cycle, the same strength as cycle 24. Solar maximum is expected in July 2025, with a peak of 115 sunspots.
