UNID peskie playing radio 6940 LSB 2146 UTC 20 NOV 2022
« on: November 20, 2022, 2211 UTC »
An interesting real life peskie playing radio here on 6940 LSB from 2146-2200 UTC! OM in Spanish or Portuguese announcing in between latin american music. Haven't heard one of these in a long time! I was logged out of the internet to do a quick CClean and defrag PC maintenance, so I didn't get a recording. Amazing how inspirational the North American pirates are to the multitude of Pescadores and other freebanders.

Please QSL!

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using an SDRPlay RSP1A for SWL with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet. Kenwood TS-570D for ham use.

Very nice! Doesn't this belong in Latin American Pirate?

The question of whether these pescadore broadcasts belong in the "peskies" forum or under the pirate forums has always been six of this and a half dozen of the other. I just wanted to post this where it gets maximum exposure, and will probably move it to the peskies forum tomorrow morning. I guess it's a case of bored fisherman or freebanders having a good time for themselves. I have heard several of these over the years, including a couple of shows back when I had Shazam and was able to identify the songs they played.
These peskie playing radio broadcasts were the inspiration for a "Peskie Party Radio" broadcast back in 2014, as well as a couple others that followed. I believe some poster on the HFU made a comment one day about the "peskie party posse people" and naturally, some op took the ball and ran with it.

Just making the distinction between a peskie and a "legit" Latin American pirate....
