SDR in NE PA? Do you ever hear a guy chanting "Hey,yay,yay,yay,yay...", and talking about, "The Chatanooga Shoeshine Boy" on that thing? They used to be kind of famous.

No, I didn't hear anything like that.  Shortly before station went QRT the announcer ranted (briefly), and then told his listeners to "be cool".

It's an inside joke about the owner/operator of WHYP AM, James Brownyard, which was located in the little town of North East,PA. There were tapes of the old guy floating around everywhere, with his distinctive chants and his slow creep into dementia documented in them. A SW pirate op took over the name of the owner and call letters of the station in the late 90's as a tribute to the guy and the tribute ran a solid decade after that. It was one of the more popular and widely heard pirate stations of it's time.
