6981 KHz USB ALE and VARA? 1833Z NOV 22 2022
« on: November 22, 2022, 1903 UTC »
Just heard what sounded like a VARA ARQ exchange on 6981 KHz.  I also heard 2G ALE sounding from "AB2" on the same freq around the same time, but unknown if it was the same station.  If it was ALE, the the dial freq would have been 6980.

I know MIL-STD-188 ALE includes some kind of ARQ itself, but this signal didn't sound like that to me.

This is most likely a CFARS station in VARA mode.

Getting VARA on 5897ish minus the ALE but right next door to a SHARES ALE freq. getting no decode though with VARA HF decoder.
