Radio Free Whatever 6950 USB 2127 UTC 31 DEC 2022
« on: December 31, 2022, 2130 UTC »
S7 but weak with the K3FEF KiwiSDR at tune in. Up to S9+20 by 2139 UTC.

2127 UTC-DJ Dickweed taking in the background of UNID Tones, only thing I understood was “if anyone can hear me please let me know”
2128 UTC-BREAK
2129 UTC-DJ Dickweed talking about transmitter issues, weak signal, says the antenna is damaged (that explains the weak signal)
2132 UTC-Says a Christmas show was planned but the antenna melting down prevented it, talking to someone in the Discord chat
2133 UTC-Going to go see if anything is melting down, might do a show if all is good, will be back in a moment
2133 UTC-BREAK
2139 UTC-Back on with unknown music, now at S9+20
2142 UTC-BREAK
2145 UTC-Having a transmitter fault, there might be water and ice in the feed line but he can’t fully inspect everything (at S9 now), playing the music again to try to burn off the ice and water
2148 UTC-This is DJ Dickweed having all kinds of technical difficulties, the SWR is jumping around so something is not right, just going to keep going anyway and see what happens
2150 UTC-Talking about the music, Radio Free Whatever ID
2150 UTC-Unknown Music
2202 UTC-Talking about the signal being very weak, difficult copy
2204 UTC-OFF

no ID so far
OM at 2133
S6, 34333
OM saying he's going to check some things out and come back shortly. "Doesn't want the transmitter to melt". "Will be back after short intermission."
2135: now silent
OK - whatever.
Thought the voice sounded familiar.
2138: now back with music, sounds like "fanfare" mx

2145 tuned in to Sigma SDR (MA/CT border) and DJDW is back on the air. Fair signal there.
2155 have tried various online SDR's throughout the NE, mid Atlantic states and upper midwest / Ohio Valley and this signal is either weak or not present. Whatever technical issues you're having (as I heard you talk about via the online feed) seem to be very significant, or else the propagation just isn't there. Though the strength of the 6930 pirate seems to indicate propagation is fine.
2203 DJDW on the mic (listening online), he may shut down since it seems he's not getting out there. Doesn't want to waste the show. Going to go work on his stuff now.
2204 Will be back as soon as he can be.

Did you listen or read any of the posts here? He normally has a fantastic signal, but he is having issues with his equipment today. Why don’t some people read or listen before they complain?

For the love of God, get an antenna!

Not exactly a good opening comment for a newbie...DJDW is a highly respected op who has provided many. many hours of entertainment for the listeners. Antenna and xmtr problems happen now and then and criticizing the ops when that happens does nothing to resolve the problems.
