« on: April 11, 2013, 2107 UTC »
At a panel on "AM Band Revitalization" moderated by Republican FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai the first Commissioner to moderate a panel at the NAB Show CBS Radio Senior Vice President of Engineering Glynn Walden told attendees that there was no sustainable future for analog AM broadcasting and that the FCC should set a date for an "for a digital AM sunrise and for an analog AM sunset."

Glynn is correct about "no sustainable future". But IBOC is not the answer for AM.  There is a pretty good discussion going on over at Radio Discussions the thread is "what is Glynn Walden Smoking". The general consensus seems to be that everyone wants to be smoking the same thing.

The bottom line is the groundwork is being laid to take this before the FCC, and for it to become the law of the land. If not HD, then what?

"what is Glynn Walden Smoking"

Hundred dollar bills from his paymasters at iBiquity? The guy was involved in IBOC from the petri dish stage, onwards. Anyone that doesn't think this guy has a vested financial interest in IBOC needs to switch what they're smoking.

Yeah, I know, that's been tried before. Maybe it come back.

If not, we always have X-FM.  :)
