7285 AM kHz. - new pirate with super signal?

INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire, 0805 till cut off at 0859* UT, April 10. Tuned in to do my usual monitoring
of RRI, but for the first time ever, had strong off frequency QRM. Tuned down to 7285 to hear an extremely
strong station; RRI only heard when UNID went silent; mostly just announcers (due to Ramadan) and some
music; very poor to poor.

UNID. 7285 AM, assume a pirate? Transmitter on and off; played non-stop rock songs; never heard any
announcer; very strong signal on April 10.

0805-0808* UT; *0810-0813*; *0821-0828*; *0829* test tone; did not return till *0850-0852*; *0853-0858*.

That's the center of 40 meter AM window. It's more likely a ham fooling around. Those scamps do that from time to time.

I heard them as well, in Carrollton, MO, around 1035 UTC off air & back on at 10:40 UTC. Signal is about S7-8.

That would have been about the time 40 meter band opens up E-W. I used to hunt East and S.E. Asian dx in that range and would get interrupted by Ham's hollering "CQ".

Back on at 1055 UTC with interference from hams on 7284khz LSB, in Carrollton, MO.

That will have the AM boys in a tizzy. 7285 is the sacred frequency.

Technically speaking, this broadcast is interfering with the hams, not the other way around, unless it's a licensed broadcast from regions 1 or 3. Judging from the reports, it's not.
