Yes.

Does it work?

No.  ???

I took a chance and plugged it in. The dial lights illuminate, and the tubes light, but I haven't received anything yet. I'm going to get it opened up and check the caps and see what might need replacement, and also for any open solder joints. If that doesn't do it, I'll replace the tubes. I think I can get this thing working pretty easily.

The SX-99 was my first "real" SW receiver.  I used it for a while with my 75 W rock bound home brew Novice transmitter.  And I think I paid about the same as you for my SX-99, but that was over 40 years ago.

By the way, I still have my SX-99:

There were 3 or 4 runs of the SX-99, each with slight differences.  Metal dials vs plastic, etc.  It might say "Run 1" or "Mark 1B" or something like that on the chassis when you open the lid and look down at the area between the tubes.  Some had the run number on the back skirt.  The first run had no run designator on them that I remember.

I like old tube table radios from the '50s & '60s. Here's a 1961 Arvin I found at a garage sale for $3 about 7 months ago. It works, but needs a little TLC, new dial light, minor stuff. Need to get the tubes tested... can't do that at the drugstore anymore!! It says "Twin Speaker" on the front nameplate, but it's a Mono radio! Obviously trying to cash in on the then-new Stereophonic craze. I wonder how many refrigerators had one of these sitting on top? Dig that turquoise and cream color combo!
Location: Ligonier Pennsylvania area
Primary radio: Icom R75
Secondary radios: Kenwood R1000, Icom R9000
Thirdary radio: Tecsun 880 Portable
Antennas: Par EF-SWL - W6LVP Loop - 25 ft  longwire
