He wrote on Facebook February 28:

"CHARLESTON RADIO INTERNATIONAL is shut down by authoritys today afternoon. So its history and i thank you for listening and posting over the years. The project was made for 100 years of AM Radio. I hope you remember me fondly BYE BYE"

In reply to a comment he replied:

"they just took the transmitter with them. It goes in a Laboratory to check the power. And i will hear of them later. There was 3 mens here for the shut down, i was nice with them and they was also nice with me. They made photos of the transmitter place and the antenna. So now i wait for the Penalty bill."

Songs are identified with Shazam if needed. I usually use KiwiSDR receivers. Reception from my QTH is using an SDRPlay RSP1A for SWL with a 40 meter band Inverted V at 40 feet. Kenwood TS-570D for ham use.

Sorry to hear that - I listened to them on 27th with a good signal
Listening to Short and Medium Wave broadcasts since 1962 as a DXer. Nowadays I listen to 48 and 49 meters mainly for interesting stations. If you like to send me an EQSL my email is bkavana@yahoo.com

Sad news indeed. CRI was a fixture for SW - if there weren't other pirates I could rely on it playing music. I tuned around tonight and there was silence. Then I found this thread..

Probably busted for interference with utes--in the 5800s they might not have cared.
Big into SWDX late 70s through early 90s, then forgot about it and when I returned via SDRs it wasn't at all what I remembered, but I'll deal with it. Grumble, grumble. All SDRs acknowledged, nothing is from my own radio.

Hello everyone in the forum,

I was in contact with HARRY and he told me what had happened.
I sent him the link to the forum here.
Maybe he'll get in touch and can tell you a little more about it. I'm very sorry that CRI is no longer on air.
His program is still repeated at times on Twente Gold.
Maybe he'll come back at some point... 8)
