ASIA Volmet 6676 USB
« on: October 10, 2013, 2108 UTC »
Had a few minutes before leaving for work, so I checked to see what could be heard on this Volmet ring.  I did not have time to monitor a complete 1/2 hour cycle.

1130z Australia weak to fair with YL giving meteo
1135z nada (Calcutta sked)
1140z Bangkok tent weak with (Brit?) accented OM giving meteo
1145z nada (Karachi sked)

24th September:

1830z  8.743MHz  USB  HSW Bangkok, Thailand marine weather, first YL then Musical Chimes for two mins then OM operator with Gulf of Siam & Andaman Sea weather.
1814z  8.812MHz  USB  TAH Turkey or LZW Bulgaria with Volmet, over modulated audio.  Am inclined to think it is LZW in Varna.
1804z  8.819MHz  USB  Tashkent Volmet, Uzebekistan with YL operator in Russian.  Thumping plus 10dB over signal with deep fades.
Condobolin, NSW.

Yaesu FT-1000D, Yaesu FT-2000D, ICOM IC-736 HF/50MHz, ICOM IC R75 & Tecsun S-2000 to 450 feet of wire, 27MHz 1/2 wave CB antenna converted to 21MHz & a multi band vertical of dubious reliability.
