Tis the season for Part 15 'Light Display' stations?
« on: November 27, 2024, 1754 UTC »
Anyone seen these out yet? Signs that say, "TUNE IN TO ----" for music to various X-mas light displays. Most seem to be those FM ones, but someone might try AM as well. Usually, you will see them at an event like this,   https://salights.com/   However, folks that have their houses decked-out might display a sign for accompanying music.

An old story (December 2018) but still relevant

Feds shut down Ontario man's Christmas music light show
https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/canada/feds-shut-down-ontario-man-s-christmas-music-light-show-1.4225345
(Excerpts)
An Ontario man’s Christmas music light show has been shut down.. after reports that a radio transmitter may have been interfering with aircraft landing at a nearby airport...he used a radio transmitter that broadcasts about 150 feet so people who pull up outside his property can hear music synchronized to the flashing light display....."It’s kind of like watching a movie with no sound,” he said. “Not the best experience for people that are pulling up... .It’s definitely a big Bah Humbug,” he said.

Yep... To take such a true quote from the movie The Boat That Rocked / Pirate Radio, " That's the good thing about being in government. If there's something that you don't like, you simply make it illegal."
