i don`t know if this qualifies as a  mw pirate -
1770khz am  on the 170meter band
talked like a community oriented station.
tuned in at 2133 thru 2156utc and ended abruptly without an i.d.
likely from washington, d.c. or nearby maryland (montgomery / p.g. counties ) ?
copied on pl-330 w/30ft outside wire

Sounds like a pirate.

FWIW, I checked my SDR recordings, (I am about 100 km due north of DC) around that time on Nov 26th, and didn't have anything up here.

i`ve only heard them the one time.
i found out about 170meters in a couple youtube videos.
westminster ? i know where that is - i`m about 8 - 10mi. south of d.c. in ft. wahington, md.
also,  wow ! you have some serious antenna`s !   i`m currently using a 30ft wire up a tree outside my lo-noise listening area in the garage.  i`m planning to run a longer antenna over the garage to a tall tree in the backyard.  might be able to get 200ft in the air.
i have basic receivers, a  pl-330  and an eton elite traveller.

also, i`m sure they were low power and likely from the montgomery county area based on what i heard with some overlap about p.g. county too.

WOW !!!!

In all my many years of dxing pirates,I have NEVER heard of one operating so far above the X Band.

The highest I have ever seen mentioned is 1710 or on extremely rare occasions,
1720.

I wish WQFG 689 would go back down to “ normal “ power so that 1710 would be more opened up . I would THINK that their supposedly “ temporary “ high power waiver would  have expired a LONG time ago.

Obviously, no one is checking, knows or cares.
