https://www.radioworld.com/tech-and-gear/nicks-signal-spot/supercharged-ionosphere-delivers-rare-winter-dx  Huh... Makes me want to put up a VHF TV Antenna outside again. Where I live currently, there's only one VHF DTV channel, and that's CH13 for Huntington / Charleston, WV. Nothing low band here, until you go North to Clarksburg, WV, where they have an RF DTV CH5. So, no interest in lower VHF RX'ing here for me really. I do use a 6M HALO, for 6M SSB ops, but being OMNI, doubt it would have the gain for South of the Border VHF Low Band Reception. Still, interesting.... Thinking more about this, this could be Trans-equatorial Propagation.

“I am often asked how radio works. Well, you see, wire telegraphy
is like a very long cat. You yank his tail in New York and he
meows in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? Now, radio is
exactly the same, except that there is no cat.”
-Attributed to Albert Einstein, but I ripped it from the latest Splatter .PDF March 2025 issue.

That opening was wild. It started with some aurora contacts reported (6 meters and maybe 2 meters) and then I noticed monster signals on 10 meters into the Caribbean. From there it went to 6 meters and all heck broke loose. At least one FM broadcast station was spotted via e skip on the map, but I never heard it go that high.

I worked about dozen stations on 6 and heard many more, some even down to Ecuador.

Yes, low VHF TV would have been fun to monitor.
