Blue Ocean Radio 6925 USB 0221 UTC 11 May 2014
« on: May 11, 2014, 0225 UTC »
Barely able to pick up music playing at this time; sounds like blues music. Buried in atmospheric noise, sounds like some crashing noises from storm activity somewhere.

0302 BOR ID clearly heard, although weak
~ lots of great old blues music
0318 BOR ID w/ female voice and musical interlude; clearer but still subject to some noise

The music is still going at 0416 but I'm shutting things down here.  Signal gradually improved to between S3 and S5 here; noise heard earlier diminished quite a bit and I was able to enjoy a fair amount of the music.  Thanks for the great show BOR, I look forward to catching it again sometime! Opps, just heard another Station ID at 0418.

First heard at around 0200z, way down in the noise and too weak to get anything...

0244z ID "This is Blue Ocean Radio", S5 now and playing some blues tunes
0317z Up to S8 now, sounding great
0320z ID with The Layaways - Ocean Blue
0344z Still S8 and mostly above the noise - Bedtime, thanks for the show BOR

S3 signal here in Iowa, but alot of static crashing.  There happens to be some isolated little storms peppering the midwest right now.  Anyhow, I've gotten to where I can kind of tell BOR when I hear it  ;) because I dig the music.
Icom R75,  160m circular wire loop thing.  Also, backup rainspout "antenna".

Thanks! I'm having a blues night tonight...mostly old stuff. It's still daylight here on the west coast so, hopefully, the signal will come up when the sun sets. Reports can be sent to timberwolfradio at gmail dot com

Heard on PL660 while walking the dog. I just put a longer whip on the PL660 as I broke the other one. BOR was weak at first but came up quite nicely when I got to the electrically quiet part of the neighborhood. During "Dust my broom" at 3:44 it was inbooming & sounded just great. ID's at 3:38 & 3:52. Much noisier now that I am back home. Thanks for a really great show. I often think that old blues sort of benefit in a way from adverse reception conditions. It somehow fits the music I feel. Especially when the harmonica cuts through the static (I think of it as "CW with soul")
Again, Thanks BOR for a really nice show, great tunes.

Thanks, Glimmer...I was thinking of the same thing, actually. Trying to play tunes that will cut through that summer static. I'm really glad you're enjoying the show. All the best to you and yours...BOR
