TENT Radio Candip 5066.3 0345 UTC 10/4/2014

Thanks to jfarley for the suggestion, a tentative Radio Candip was heard here last night on 5066.3 kHz.  I started checking for it at 0330z sign-on (according to EiBi).  Nothing heard, not even a faint carrier.  Checked back at 0340z and still nothing.  When I returned at 0344z, I was surprised to not only see a carrier but also hear the sounds of faint music coming from the weak signal.  Heard best using the North D-Kaz.  Signal faded after 0410z, which coincides with the sun coming up there.  Pretty short window to catch this one!

Good to hear!  This is my most important test station for antenna sensitivity: very low power low-modulated AM coming via a very long miserable path, but on a generally clear freq.  Carrier is detectable with regularity, but getting audio from this seems to be no small feat.  Sounds to me like your Kaz is a keeper!

I heard pretty much the same last night.

You are absolutely right about the short window of opportunity; the sunrise enhancement window at the equator can be faster than a deer bot fly!

Always a good catch for both you guys and us Aussies. It seems to be quite a bit easier for our European friends.

I have no idea what a "deer bot fly" is.....but I guess it must be very fast!   ;D
