WBCQ 5110 Khz - way out of operating spec - 0109 UTC
« on: January 04, 2016, 0117 UTC »
operating today at -0.300Hz off frequency (5.109.700Khz) using emission H3E (upper-sideband full-carrier) at 6.290Khz upper modulation bandwidth with slsight audio distortion.
whats up with that ?
Allan having transmitter issues ?
i wasnt going to even bother mentioning 7.490Khz being completely over-modulated either but seeing 5.110Khz operating in this manner is quite unusual.

and today, 1/4/16 at 2200z, WBCQ @ 7.490, sounds extremely and terribly distorted splashing +20Khz, at least this time they are closer to being on frequency at 7.490.015 Mhz rather than a few hundred Hz off previously.
2205z - i had actually called up WBCQ and spoke to Allan, told him the problem, he turned on a small radio, heard it, is going to try to fix it and thanked me for letting him know.  ;)

All the Brother Stair/Scare must have finally been too much for the BCQ transmitter.  That, or that horrifying 'Herald of Truth' show proved more than the poor rig could handle.  I nearly blew a fuse myself when I stumbled across that one; I wouldn't blame the electronics if they did similar.

... Sorry folks.  Couldn't resist.

While I was at the Deerfield, NH hamfest last October, I overheard "TimTron", CE of WBCQ aka WA1HLR discussing the poor condition of the WBCQ transmitters.
It's a wonder they are still operating.

Every time I listen to them, the audio sounds bad.
