Radio Educacion 6185khz
« on: February 17, 2016, 2036 UTC »
I've been hearing Radio Educacion on 6185 khz for at least 20 years, listening from both California and Michigan, but I notice there's been no signal at all from them the last couple of nights.  Anybody know what's going on there?  Is it just a temporary glitch or some bad propagation?

Tonight is another night without any Radio Educacion on 6185.  That makes three nights in a row.  Am I the only one who ever listened to this Spanish language station from Mexico City?  I've heard very eclectic music from this station: everything from Jimi Hendrix to bebop jazz.  It's been pleasantly unpredictable, and I'd be sorry to see it vanish from the air waves.

I heard the Mexican national anthem at 23hrs, 55 minutes UTC on 6185, but at a reduced signal strength from what it has been up until this week.  Apparently, therefore, they're still on the air but some changes have been made to transmitter or antenna.

Doc,
I have a listenable signal here at 447 z. The audio seems a bit low , although signal strength is s 5 to 7 range. Remarkably noise free night compared to lately. For a 1 k station , they are getting out pretty well.
The audio seems disproportionately low
518z they are playing Tona La Negra/ Adonde Ira

Their audio has been low for the past few months.

Radio Educacion props go a little off around the equinoxes at my location. We're about a month away from the spring equinox.

I listened late yesterday afternoon just to check it out. A normal signal for them, but they faded out just after dusk. Equinoctial props building up, IMO.
