ALCON,

Has anyone ever heard this signal around the bands? It is NOT the OTH radar burst, but the other sound which resembles wind blowing through a cell phone speaker.  It has been also heard on 20 meters. The signal tends to move around and also resembles a snake on my waterfall display.  Is it local QRM or a component of the OTH radar?  The mode is unknown, but I recorded it in USB mode on my Excalibur.

Chris,  can you try the links in my Numbers logging to see if it is my privacy settings?  I have to wait until I get home to change them.

I tried the S06 recording, that worked. I tried some more, they did not.

Thanks for letting me know!

Do you think it is OK to use SoundCloud for pirate stations?  I uploaded some pirate broadcasts on YouTube last year and because they had music, they were banned.  What are members currently using to record and post pirate stations? I was going to eventually upload everything on Archive.org.

Also, the second file in this post is easier to hear the intermittent QRM and I was wondering if you have any ideas?

Take care,

Vince

The sound in this file is an OTHR.  The mode is LFMCW.  Which specific OTHR it is is anyone's guess as the waveform is used by many, however the JORN in Australia would be a good candidate.

(edit)  Turns out Vince knew the OTHR sound for what it was, and was talking about a sound between the OTHR bursts.  I got nothing on that.  ALl I hear in there is normal static and maybe some RFI that could be local.
