ICOM R75 computer control
« on: September 01, 2016, 1224 UTC »
Does anyone with an ICOM R75 use the computer control option?
The user manual is vague on this and not much specific info on the web.
I was trying to figure out the interface, (CI-V connection) the software
and hardware needed.

I was trying to find some video or pics of the software display to see what it looks like
and what it controlled. Also what advantages does computer control have.
Do you get a waterfall display?

Thanks

You don't get a waterfall display. Nor does it pass audio from the radio to computer for decoding SSTV, CW, etc.

The exact software you use determines what you can do. In general, the interface lets the software set the radio frequency and mode, as well as read it back.

I do sell a CI-V to USB interface: http://www.blackcatsystems.com/usbciv/usb_icom_ci-v_interface.html
Note that it does NOT come with any application software, it is just the interface.

here is an idea of what it can be used for and what can be controlled but as Chris said, the interface does not pass audio.
