Is the QS1R SDR manufacturer still around?
« on: July 28, 2016, 0619 UTC »
I'm intrigued by this receiver - one which if I had more cash, and one was actually available, would be a hot contender for my next receiver... Does anyone know if SLC is still in existence? There seems to have been none available on their website for about a year or more. And if anyone who owns one would care to comment on its performance I'd be interested to hear.

Dunno if they're still being made or serviced, but those I know who have a qs1 love them.

Some time ago, maybe December 2015 (?), the QS1R designer Phil Covington posted on the QS1R_SDRMAX Yahoo group that a new version was in the works.   As I recall, he reported that he had been in bad health for quite a while but that it was improving.   The new model was to be better and less expensive.   I just looked through some of the old posts and could not find his posting but there were a lot of posts from others asking him for details.   Maybe someone can find that original posting - I think it was in the middle of a thread.  It would sure be interesting if it gets produced eventually, most current QS1R owners seem very pleased with it!

Update: I received this email today:

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in the QS1R and the upcoming SRL-TWO.

I am in the process of getting CE and FCC approval and when that is
done I will be able to put it into production.  This, of course, took
longer than anticipated.  I am hoping by September.

Regards,
