WOW!

I was unaware that ORTG had reactivated SW, and I believe that I am listening to it now at 2200.

The Congo, Tanzania, Guinea, Mali, and Senegal are at the top of the musical powerhouse list in Africa, and I am very excited about this.

Thank you fpe!

One of the country's noted bands is Bembeya Jazz National, featuring guitarist Sekou "Diamond Fingers" Diabate.  Here's a link to a couple of my fave tracks from Bembeya:

This is just delightful!  Caught RTG on my first ever try for them.  2118Z with West African pop music programming interspersed with brief comments by a male presenter, definitely in African French.  Some of the music was very much Guinean/Malian, to almost desert blues, some was closer to Congolese, and one song was almost Cuban in style; all this fits musical history and influences in that region.  One probable mention of Guinea near 2140Z.  Signal fair in loud static and a high noise floor.  SINPO 32232.

I'm going to try for this one again in the near future and hopefully get a clear ID, and then off goes a QSL attempt!
Madison, WI, U.S.A.
Tecsun PL-660, Yaesu FT60R handheld, and Realistic DX-398 (back up and running!)
QSL's appreciated

There's a geeklady turning that dial!

First posting... greetings to all!

Very good signal here, with low noise and no interference (kinda unusual for my location). Nice variety of highlife - rumba - etc, with OM announcer in French.

Nice to hear a station like this! Reminds me of the "good old days" at college, sitting around late at night listening to the Africans sign on, like Ivory Coast or Togo.
SDRs:  Perseus -- HF+ Discovery -- RSPdx
Antennas:  DKAZ -- Superloop (Conti) -- Belar loop

Guniea, presumed 2245 with talk in FF, music  "N'na" by Kouyate Sory Kandia  [TY Shazam].
9650 was a frequency they used in the 1960s/70s.  Used to have a 30 minute English segment in the afternoon.
Also used be on 15309.9 back in the day.
I have them QSLed from 1968 but I'm tempted to send off another report, I'll use Skipper's program log ..... ;D ;D
2258 Mention of Bamako .....

Good to see all the logs!  It's nice to get a new/resurrected African station - particularly these days with so many SW stations bailing out in favor of Internet BX - ugh.

S9+ here at 2347 UTC with minimal selective fading..."Wodiko"-Djessou Mama Diabate
2350 UTC OM with ID..."Radio Guinea"...mentioned a frequency also, but it was too fast and my French is too slow ;), into an Afropop song (with autotune vocals!) that Shazam doesn't recognize
2358 UTC "Etat Major"-Extra Musica
0002 UTC OFF abruptly

Here's an interesting link to the musical artists popular in Guinea

GUINEA, 9650, Radio Guinea, Conakry, 0650-0730, Aug 11.
Finally heard this reactivated station for the first time. Interested
to note Conakry sunrise was at 0646 UTC today; at 0650 heard
French, with the signal rapidly improving up to mostly fair; 0700
pips and nice series of IDs; 0700-0730 with non-stop African pop
singing (repetitive), except for one very brief announcer at 0718;
briefly after 0700 had some very light QRM, assume R. Sonder
Grense (South Africa) underneath; 0728 strong open carrier
from Voice of Korea, which started very strong audio at 0730
with IS. My audio - https://goo.gl/Q97eNo  .
