I spent the school year 1964-1965 at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. I remember WRIT was an AM-FM simulcast with their AM on one of the graveyard freqs, 1340 I think. It was a R&R station in competition with top 40 WOKY920. They did their own thing back then. The only other alternative to WOKY was 50KW WLS890 100 miles to the south in Chicago which was a top 40 stn with a slightly different playlist. WRIT was better than either to listen to. Besides they were also on FM which sounded better and had less audio compression. BTW, I didn't really like Milwaukee.
Drake R8, Kenwood R-2000, Panasonic RF-4900, Sony 2010, Realistic DX440, Grundig Satellit 500, 7mhz backyard dipole, Mt Prospect, IL 20miles (32km) NW of downtown Chicago. I have been using online receivers because of strong data hash interference in my neighborhood that I believe is caused by Uverse squeezing up to 100mb/sec through ordinary pairs of wires. I don't have Uverse but neighbors do. williamhassig@yahoo.com
