87.9 Newport Pirate Radio 6770am, 0225utc, 28 Aug 2016
« on: August 28, 2016, 0230 UTC »
Tuned in at 0225utc, weak sig with throbbing FM of carrier but punk rock in AM. Not the usual programming on this freq. (edit) Switched from Drake R8 to Panasonic  RF-4900, sig still has throbbing freq modulation, stn playing heavy metal now (dazed and confused), sig fading in and out. (2nd edit) storms approaching, must shut down, sorry.

Drake R8, Kenwood R-2000, Panasonic RF-4900, Sony 2010, Realistic DX440, Grundig Satellit 500, 7mhz backyard dipole, Mt Prospect, IL 20miles (32km) NW of downtown Chicago. I have been using online receivers because of strong data hash interference in my neighborhood that I believe is caused by Uverse squeezing up to 100mb/sec through ordinary pairs of wires. I don't have Uverse but neighbors do. williamhassig@yahoo.com

S2-S4. Noisy with lots of fades
Talking about music
Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin
Sittin' On A Rainbow by Mountain
Water by The Who
More talking. Too noisy to make out what he's saying.
Astronomy Domine by Pink Floyd
World of Pain by Cream
Third Stone from the Sun by Jimi Hendrix
Lost it in the noise :(
Great playlist!

S9 with light, quick fades @ 0248 with "Water"
OM introducing a Pink Floyd song and ID'd as '87.9 Newport Pirate Radio', and into live version of Astronomy Domine.
Newport Pirate Radio has a live stream, so someone may be playing that..?
0311 - "We'll Burn the Sky" by The Scorpions [nice!]
0320 - "Symptom of the Universe" by Black Sabbath [another great tune!] followed by 'Newport Pirate Radio' ID
