Sony sw7600gr - is the an-lp1 worth the $ ?
« on: August 29, 2016, 0152 UTC »
Hey gang,

So, I purchased a sw7600gr, which I should be receiving next week.  Anyone have any experience with the an-lp1?  Not cheap, but looks like an upgrade from the whip antenna.  I'll be using this while travelling or when I don't have access to my main station.  Thanks for any input.

I may have an AN-LP1 for sale. Bought 1 years ago for the condo and never used it. What would you offer ? I know I paid about $100 for it.

That would be overkill.  This is a quite sensitive portable even with the whip.
Unless you have an apartment situation or other issues, you really don't need
some specialist antenna.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the replies.  The more I read, the more I realize that dxace1 is on the $.  My big ole loop would likely overload the little sony.  PirateSWL, I was actually looking at new ones for around $95.  How old is yours?  Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Steve, mine is only a few years old but was brand new in the box. It was the only one for sale on ebay for a while so I grabbed it. I took it out thinking it could be hooked up to my ham radios but I was mistaken so I put it back in the box. Never used it.

Hmm...Brian, we don't know each other from Adam, so please don't take this personally; but do you have an ebay account, or something that I can look at to make me feel better about sending a total stranger $?  What is your call?

The AN-LP1 is an amazing value. And it's not only a matter of sensitivity, but signal to noise ratio. It has very good rejection of nearby interference.

Steve, I will get in contact with you via e-mail. Give me a day or 2 to pull it out of one of the 20 moving boxes in my garage.
