Winter NDB's at VK2XQ...
« on: September 10, 2016, 0450 UTC »
Not a very exciting winter season here with high noise levels and poor propagation paths plus a "machine gun" style transmitter that covers the entire band, send in CW "E" then "R" and a huge burst of machine gun like noise for a few seconds then stops, on and off all night and morning, up to plus 20dB over.  Suspect it may be from the army or air force bases close to hear but not certain.

Hard to get anything over 3,000kms, only new logging was Esperance, in Western Australia on 326KHz for 2,618kms at 1824z.  Better than nothing.  Thought I heard MOE on 212KHz from Momote in Papua New Guinea on the Grey Line but not enough to make a new logging claim or ident 100%.  Some further Australian NDB's have been turned off in the last few weeks due to the new modern technology being introduced to the NavAids system.  Another new logging on 10th Sep with 3,663kms to Carnarvon, Western Australia, see below.
