Inverted L antenna & Counterpoise

Hello,

In an inverted L antenna system, must the counterpoise be below and // from the horizontal fed ? or can it be in the opposite direction (but still //) ?

It can be anywhere so as to suit the need for balance in the system, but will have an effect upon the response of the antenna as far as directivity and angle(s) of radiation.

Try it in various positions and see how goes it.
