Now Sat 28 Jan 2017 after midnight on: 3065,3078,3104,3122,3145 AM most actively russian pirates - only frendly chating.
2920USB also on the air.

Not 100m,but I also heard russian pirates chatting on 4011kHz,and some music on 4004kHz,USB both.

I didn't know they were still active there? I'd read a couple of articles in the lead-up to the fall of the Warsaw Pact after Glasnost about SW pirates in the old USSR down in roughly the same frequency areas as the guys above mentioned. Those guys used tubes from TV sets to build transmitters.

Some of the designs are still floating around the 'net but I don't know Russian, and Cyrillic might as well cuneiform to me. There were a couple of one tube AM SW designs that I've got to think were a challenge to listen to under optimum conditions? Can anyone say "unintentional fm'ing?"


Putin creates a modern autocratic state ran by former KGB apparatchiks and the pirates are back. Good for them.
