Are all the radio settings set to allow reception? (squelch off etc etc)
Does it power up?
Speaker properly connected and working?
A few feet of wire jammed into the antenna port should allow at least some ambc stations to be heard.

Do you receive any local MW stations? If you don't, then your problem is undoubtedly the antenna or connections.

If you receive MW stations well, then it's either the way the antenna may be set up, or perhaps it's bad shortwave propagation conditions.
An AM radio Boombox DXer.
+ GE SRIII, PR-D5 & TRF on MW.
The usual Realistic culprits on SW (and a Panasonic).
