An AWACS was stopping the scanner with HAVE QUICK time synchs for a few hours earlier today. Later I fired up an ale decoder on 11181KHz and caught what I presume to be the AWACS in question;

Started: 18:22 UTC 28 Feb 2018

[18:25:30 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][ADWSPR][TWS][ADWSPR][TWS][ADWSPR
[18:25:32 UTC] ][TWS][ADWSPR][TWS][ADWSPR][EOM]

[18:25:35 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][ADWSPR][EOM]

[18:29:12 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][MOBD21DAT][TWS][MOB][EOM]

[18:29:15 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][MOBD21DAT][TWS][MOBD21DAT][TWS][
[18:29:19 UTC] MOBD21DAT][EOM]

[18:34:35 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][AEDSPR][TWS][AEDSPR][TWS][AEDSPR
[18:34:37 UTC] ][TWS][AEDSPR][TWS][AEDSPR][TWS][AEDSPR][TWS][AEDSPR][TWS][AED
[18:34:41 UTC] SPR][EOM]

[18:36:29 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][MCCSPR][TWS][MCCSPR][TWS][MCCSPR
[18:36:31 UTC] ][TWS][MCCSPR][TWS][MCCSPR][TWS][MCCSPR][TWS][MCCSPR][TWS][MCC
[18:36:35 UTC] SPR][EOM]

[18:36:50 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][OFFSPR][TWS][OFFSPR][TWS][OFFSPR
[18:36:52 UTC] ][TWS][OFFSPR][TWS][OFF][EOM]

[18:36:54 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][OFFSPR][TWS][OFFSPR][EOM]

[18:40:08 UTC] [FRQ 0 Hz ][NORMAL MODE][TWS][PLASPR][TWS][PLASPR][TWS][PLASPR
[18:40:10 UTC] ][TWS][PLASPR][EOM]

ADWSPR = Andrews AFB, MD
MOBD21DAT = AWACS
AEDSPR = Elmendotf AFB, AK
MCCSPR = McClellan AFB, CA
OFFSPR = Offut AFB, NE
PLASPR = Lajes Field, Azores

Normally, the AWACS will do some 110A mode work with a ale linked AFB and I had a 110A decoder running to catch them, but the AWACS didn't send any 110A on 11181KHz today. Sometimes the ale modem decides another freq is better to use and I wasn't ale scanning so missed any.

I had wondered why there was almost 24hr coverage by tacamo/naoc the other day. Perhaps this is why;

Russia successfully tests intercontinental ballistic missile known as 'Satan 2', country's military claims

Not to mention;
Russian nuclear subs quietly reached US coast & left undetected – Navy officer

Weather Ruskii Subskiis actually went undetected or not, apparently today there are small desk sized neutrino detectors that can detect and plot/track any nuclear reactor on earth. And that means if we can detect theirs, they can detect ours.

Also, 311.0MHz has been active today but only strong enough to break the squelch.
