Tecsun S-8800 Receiver - The Birdie Issue

Thomas Witherspoon reviewed this new receiver on his SWLingPost.com site several months back. It highlights a serious issue with birdies appearing all over the dial. From the followup comments to his post, it appeared that several readers were somewhat fuzzy as to what a birdie was. So I've tried to shed a little light on the topic:

Interestingly, I've since heard that the receiver has now been pulled from the market while the Tecsun techs try to remedy the problem. Thant's a very good thing!
