Unid on 6930 USB
« on: August 18, 2010, 0309 UTC »
Found an unknown pirate on 6930 USB at 0303Z (18-AUG-2010)

Played "Bad Time to Be In Love" by Grand Funk Railroad.
Followed by "Catch Us If You Can" by the Dave Clark Five. Didn't play the whole song.
Then on to some other stuff.

Rebroadcast some WWV?? Hard to tell as the signal has faded quite a bit.

Now back to music and signal improving a little.

Signal is mediocre to Minnesota.

FUN!

Signal into Minneapolis, MN to a Yaesu FT-847 w/100' longwire at 15' and was about 35333. Aside from fading, it sounded pretty good, seemed to be better than the usual USB signals and the music wasn't as annoying. Using a wider filter?

But… didn't have my recorder hooked up. Even thought about doing that a couple of hours ago.  >:(

From now on, it stays hooked up. Period. I know better. I've known better for many years. Ugh.

I picked it up sometime after 10:30 into the audio recording.  The signal in this recording is stronger than what I heard.

Glad to know WWV was in there and I wasn't imagining it.

A no-signal signal report, just to let ya know I tried.  Been listening since 0330z, nary a peep.  Outhouse usually comes in pretty well here in daytime, but I seldom catch 'em after dark this year.
C'mon, ManBearPig, make with the sunspots awreddy.

6930u OutHouse Radio 0308z 8-18-2010

Delayed report due to no-access to internet:

0308z Copied "OutHouse Radio" ID on Icom-756 with lights and radio running from gasoline powered emergency generator* ...

Should add: relatively good sounding signal, very little drift this time.

Signal strength to about S5 on the dipole antenna.

(* we've had 5 power outages in the last 12 days in our neighborhood now, and it's getting old ...)
