Doesn't taking out a license kinda go against the grain of radio piracy?

Radio Caroline is gonna use the  6 4 8 KHz.

Copy/Paste from CarolineMailingList

Anyone already know(s) if the new 6 4 8 frequency, will be
announced as 6 - 4 - 9 ?

To make it a better sounding station-Id on Caroline 6 4 9 ?
(like in "the old days?")

We have radios with digital displays today which don't do 649 so I don't
think this is a good idea. Whilst us anoraks will understand normal
people wont.

That approach seemed to go with digital tuning and the use of kHz rather than metres.
The metres conversion was always a bit of an approximation and in the UK the greater
use of kHz started with the 1978 wavelength changes

http://andywalmsley.blogspot.co.uk/2010 ... art-1.html

As you may recall Caroline was off at the time the changes took place
(which were part of a European rejig of the medium wave band to make every channel a multiple of 9kHz
– some were not prior to this change) but in the part of the band that Caroline was in 962kHz (312m)
changed to 963kHz (311m).
When Caroline returned in the Easter of 1979 transmissions were on channel at 963kHz.

As far as I know, 319m was picked because a slightly lower frequency (953kHz) was the original
planned choice when Caroline moved from 259m (1187kHz).

All in all, in the modern digital age, avoiding metres and approximations seems best.

I see nothing wrong with “Caroline 648” in a style similar to the “Caroline 558” jingles or even the old Bill Mitchell numbers.

Ross Revenge accepted on Historic Ships Register

Peter Moore on the Garry Stevens forum this morning:

As of June 1st Ross Revenge has been accepted on to the :

National Register of Historic Vessels of the UK.

The fact of her being German built was outweighed by the clear long
term connection she has with Britain both in her Fishing and
Broadcasting roles.

Obviously there are many famous ships on the register and including
the Thames Barge fleet in Maldon and the steam tug Brent also based
there.

This gives us additional credibility for fund raising, while modest
sums can be awarded from the Register itself.

Board is pre-moderated so if you want to make a comment it won't
appear straight away.
