5.055MHz 4KZ relay starts in about two weeks...
« on: June 12, 2017, 0649 UTC »
After the demise of Radio Australia and Northern Territory Regional radio on the shortwave and tropical bands Queensland commercial AM station 4KZ plans to fill the listener void.

Starting in about two weeks 4KZ will relay their 531KHz AM transmission direct, via a new transmitter, to 5.055MHz with a 1.2Kw transmitter to an inverted V antenna at 12 metres elevation.

For the first two weeks the transmitter will remain on air for testing, evaluation and adjustment before commencing a scheduled service.

Reception reports will be welcome from the shortwave DXer community and a QSL card has been designed.

So have a look around from June 26th onwards on 5.055MHz, a good path indicator is Radio Happy Isles in Honiara, Solomon Islands on 5.020MHz AM with 10Kw.
