Petropavlovsk on 7.039.3MHz often has transmission irregularities as does the 8.495.3MHz transmission.  Thanks for reporting, I will pay more attention to it this evening.

Thanks! I did spin over to 8.4953 but did not hear anything on the KX3. I forgot to try the SDR but I think it was consumed by WhisperDudes.

05:10 UTC 13 AUG 2022 - MX CW Beacon "S" Sevoromorsk 10871.7 kHz. Good readable at an S3 level. I can also hear another station on frequency but is too faint to determine the call letter.

Have there been any additional reports on why the 7039.3 beacon sends K five times then repeats? (as opposed to just repeating K over and over without gaps)

LG, have you been able to determine any impact the Russian invasion of Ukraine might have had on the MX beacon stations? Any regulars missing in action?

Thanks for your wonderful logs

Petropavlovsk on 7.039.3MHz often has transmission irregularities as does the 8.495.3MHz transmission.  Thanks for reporting, I will pay more attention to it this evening.

8495.3 is transmitting K in the same pattern as 7039.3 is but I don't have a means to verify if they are synchronized. I assume they are because they are collocated. In concert with SyFr's question, maybe the change occurred in the lead up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

EDIT

I just tuned in the stronger signal of 7039.3 on my NRD-525 and I have a very weak 8495.3 on my KX3. The two do appear to be synchronized.

With regard to the Russian/Ukraine conflict, I don't see any changes to the beacons, all the regulars are there, only propagation seems to be the change as we progress to the Summer pattern in Australia.

I would imagine that the beacons assist commercial fishing and merchant ships in their respective regions and not exclusive to the military.  The military would have more high tech systems that would no doubt relegate the beacons way down the list of military importance.

Regarding Teotwaki, yes the 8MHz and 7MHz transmissions of "K" are in sync, I use a dual receiver this way in two radios and have observed this.
