UNID signal 6946 kHz USB 0000z 8/11/2017
« on: August 11, 2017, 1836 UTC »
I received this signal starting 0000z 8/11/2017 in Dayton, OH. Signal was present for several hours, in fact I heard it going two hours later.

Received on a County Comm GP-5 SSB, so when I changed the tuned frequency or BFO I noticed a change in tone. The attached spectrum shows the audio I received when tuned to 6946 kHz.

Signal sounded like a drum at first and so I thought it might be a pirate station, but this was all I heard over the several hours. (spectrum and audio https://youtu.be/pU2ZwallFRE)

Thanks!

This is Link-11. It shows up here from time to time. Presumably the US military.

Oh man, that was fast! Awesome!!! Yep, I'm very close to Wright Patterson AFB. And it just so happens that Open Skies is in town.....

Thank you!
