4XZ Israeli Navy 4331 kHz 0500 UTC 16 Jan 2018

0500 UTC - 4XZ Israeli Navy, sending coded messages on 4331 kHz. Signal is S3-S5 in WNY.
Location: Western New York ( Niagara Frontier)
Radio :TS480 with RTL-SDR pan-adapter, HDSDR software, Omni-Rig Control, Zenith T/O R600,T600
Antenna: 40m dipole, 20-17-15 meter fan dipole. One of N. Tesla's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.

Thanks for the heads up on this signal. I tuned it in and made a recording. From what I understand, what I captured is the signal in "idling mode" and that it occasionally sends classic number station-style five number groups.

Correct. I have heard both but most of the time it is "idling".

Just somebody with a radio, a computer and a pair of headphones...

Tuned into 4XZ at 0450 UTC 18 Jan. 2018. The station was idling the standard VVV DE 4XZ but started sending CW coded messages at 0500 UTC. Using fldigi to view the coded message.
0515 UTC - 4XZ still sending coded messages.
0524 UTC - 4XZ ended coded messages went back to idling mode.
