EAM? 6988 USB 2324 UTC 3 Oct 2017

Noticed an EE OM reading phonetics. Not sure if this is an EAM or not. I have not noticed them here before.

Also, and not sure if this is related, there is a carrier on 6988, it has been there a while. I record 43 meters each night for pirates, and this is new. It was not there last night.

Heard two of them today (8 Nov2018). Station IDed as "Q0D" (second character "zero"). Sounds exactly like an HFGCS EAM, but there was no parallel activity on the normal HFGCS frequencies. Could this be Canadian military? Googling doesn't produce any info for me.

I've logged EAM-like transmissions (yes, in English, American accents and following military radio procedure) in the 6800-7000 kHz range in the past as well.  I have a feeling it could be radio operator training, part of a larger training exercise or some sort of backup network like MARS.

Those are USN assets participating in a exercise. a large number of frequencies have been in use since this morning. 12082.0 & 7498.0 were active a few minutes ago, both USB voice.

As indicated in an earlier post, a number of frequencies have been in use today by USN assets (ships, aircraft & submarines) in a exercise to "practice" both sending & receiving EAMs.
