KUNT 6925 USB 0047 UTC 7 Dec 2017
« on: December 07, 2017, 0048 UTC »
Lots of QRM and noise...hearing OM talking "hello...test...hello radio" at 0047 UTC

0048 UTC - ID but missed it, maybe "Crazy Radio" - OM heard talking "not too shabby" "could use a little more work"
0048 UTC - K U N T Radio ID heard
0049 UTC - "hellooooooooo" "helloooooo" audio checks, talking about compression and audio settings
0049 UTC - utility screeches making copy difficult...can make out OM's words
0050 UTC - KUNT radio, University of Texas..."pirate band"
0050 UTC - considerably louder ID this time, "KUNT Raddiiooooooo"
0052 UTC - ute data bursts are getting stronger...unable to copy KUNT (or no longer transmitting?)
0053 UTC - test carriers being transmitted on 6925.0 kHz
0056 UTC - tuned back to 6925 kHz and KUNT appears to be off the air

KUNT, 6925 USB, 0047, 12/7/17.  Started in AM, but too much QRN from peskies on LSB.  0047 on with testing and getting USB as wide as possible, "helloooooo" several times.  clear ID, "University of Texas radio.  Keeping up the tradition of University of Texas radio on shortwave."  brief dead air, then music (weaker than talk), off or fade out 0057 after probably less than a minute of music.

S7 here

KUNT, "University of Texas radio.  Keeping up the tradition of University of Texas radio on shortwave."

Given the alleged callsign, seems like it ought to be from The University of Northern Texas.  ;)
Just somebody with a radio, a computer and a pair of headphones...

Heard from 0046z on the SDR recording. A good signal, but tough copy at times with the UTE bursts. So it was either SIO 444 or 111.
